So far I really like Battle Garegga but I'm not very good at shmups yet and somehow bad enough to not up the rank that much but still good enough to survive alright (alright compared to other shmups) without consciously doing anything special. Don't know what to make of that.

the problem is the rank system. it starts too easy, so you wanna get the rank up to make it harder, but then the end-game becomes too difficult and pretty much impossible to 1cc. i'd rather have rank/difficulty that starts higher but has a flatter curve like most other shmups.

also is it just me or is battle garegga really poorly paced? batrider and bakraid are much better in that regard.

Considering how incredibly important rank is to the core of the game you would think they would explain how it works and show some kind of meter representing it and an indication of actions that increase or decrease it during gameplay. Instead they didn't even mention the fact that rank exists whatsoever in game let alone any of the intricacies which is completely retarded.

Why explain how a game works to the players when you can leave it ambiguous as hell to suck a metric fuckton of quarters out of them.

I tried scoring Ibara, too hard. I tried Batrider too hard. I blame the rng and hitboxes. I tried warriors and for filtered, bad hitboxes me thinks.
