Also, soibois don't live places where you have a friendly neighbor who has every tool you need and is happy to help you cut your shit and reload your cartridges. So he's shit out of luck there. They also don't know that you can send your design to a shop that will produce perfect cuts for a reasonable price. They don't even know that they can take their flyer to a shop and have 100 copies printed for a few bucks instead of using all the ink for daddys printer.

I like it. The build quality is pretty nice, although the stick and buttons aren't quite there. I could see replacing the buttons entirely, but only maybe adding a 4lb spring to the stick.

The game selection is kinda hit or miss. Lot of good titles, lot of glaring omissions. But as I said before, it's easily softmoddable and pretty much anything I throw at it runs fine.

I don't really have any major gripes that isn't user fixable for next to nothing. Maybe if it was a foot taller? I'm 6'0" and I sit while playing and it's fine.

I've done the whole cab at home thing and I've played in a lot of commercial arcades.
If I had space to burn for an arcade machine I'd instead buy the biggest CRT television or monitor I could get my hands on and plop it down on top of a sturdy entertainment center with a big fat comfy couch or Lazy boy recliner across from it. It's just so much more comfortable than a cab and lets you actually get down to playing games.

Never owned an at home arcade, order pic related at a nice discount. Still very pricey compared to most alternatives. I hear the build quality is some of the very best, the speakers are retardedly loud 1.21 gigawatts, and overall the hardware is top notch. The pricing model for games is pretty unique compared to alternatives, and most have mixed feelings about it. Currently their selection is pretty weak but it has Wind Jammers, Boogie Wings, Dragon's Lair, Magical Drop and a few other titles I'm excited for.

The weirdest part is the mix of modern games. Currently the selection is mostly android mobile dogshit but there are some fantastic titles sprinkled in. Mostly just looking forward to Dead Cells, Wonderboy and Teslagrad on that front. But the potential of more titles that you can't play natively on other cabs is exciting, and the novelty of playing shit like Ys Chronicles and Dead Effect 2 seems fun.

Due to the price point and the small games library with extra cost I'm pretty sure most people here would rather go with another alternative like cheaper Arcade 1ups, MVS mini or Arcade Legends. I honestly plan on getting an MVS mini and ALU later down the line but am in the process of building a home so it'll take time till I have the room. Also I know I can throw a pandora's box or a Raspberry Pi into a cab and load it to the brim with roms, but the iircade is just unique and I wanted to give it a try. It honestly has next to no following so I'm not banking on the game library expanding too much. Also the CEO has like a cult following, he's some really pumped up whacky chinese dude that is super passionate and likeable.

Two questions I have
>Anyone have an iiRcade or any opinions on them?
>How is the build quality of Arcade 1ups and Arcade Legends Ultimate? I've heard lots of issues with Arcade 1ups when they first popped up.

This is what you want if you're going to get one of these emu cabs. Don't waste the cash in the Arcade1Up stuff, most of the money goes to licensing the brands on those, and not to the quality of the buttons or emu.

Plus the people behind the MVSX genuinely give a shit and want to make a good product (that is hackable). The recent production of the units has improved the speaker quality and a few other things without raising the price, so it's well worth it.

Is it perfect? No, none of these things are, it is emu after all, but it's still leagues ahead of the other options out there in this category.

Depends on the brand/games, but the deal with Marvel/Disney and Capcom ain't cheap. That's why they put out several cabs with slightly mixed around games, and even some SNES game. In almost all of these deals, the licensing is the most expensive thing, especially compared to how they undoubtedly just use the same parts for the cab, screen, and raspberry pi they stick in there, all they do is print some different art and done. That shit's pennies.

But executing a licensing deal with fucking Disney and another brand, not easy, or cheap.

SNK on the other hand, is much more affordable, and owns the rights to tons of games in the NeoGeo. So more of that money can theoretically go to build / part quality, and software.

In the end, everyone has got to make money, so you can't begrudge anyone here who's trying to make a buck, but the people behind MVSX give just a little bit more of a shit.

However SNK don't make or sell the MVSX, it's manufactured by Unico who are licensing the NEO GEO branding and games (similar how Tommo licensed the branding for the NEO GEO X, which was a piece of shit). So in this case SNK are the equivilent of Marvel/Disney/Capcom and Unico are the equivilent of Arcade1UP. Although I'm sure the NEO GEO licensing is nowhere near as costly as the Marvel stuff.

Nah.
That might have been true 10 years ago but now these kinds of cabinets are very famous on the internet and everyone even barely interested in retro gaming has seen lots of photos of Japanese arcades.

You wouldn't have a show room. I'm talking about making something like these little cheap arcade1up things but inspired by the candy cab design. Something that's white with rounded off edges and you can sit down at a stool in front of it. Something about like the mini-cute size of Japanese cabinet. Which by a google search for a photo of one for this post someone is actually doing that in the UK. Little bit expensive at £1500.

What is this? Looks cool except the weird logo where the marquee would be?

Do you know how many random joe schoe's in the world are big time weebs and geeks? Millions of em' bro.
>. But will a purist want a wood Candycab-alike when the plastic rounded design was quintessential to the Candycab's allure?
You can make it rounded off and still made out of wood. Ever heard of a router bit?
>Sure, they'll buy one online.
Well yeah. That would be the main distribution. I'm not saying this thing would be in every Wal-Mart in the world. It's not going to be as big as an arcade1up, but there's an audience for it.

Arcade purists would buy one if you were smart enough to make it easy to mod for a CRT.

It's a Capcom Mini-cute cabinet. There are all kinds of little arcade cabs in Japan.

Do you know the Neo Geo cab in the back corner there? This is the only kind of arcade machine I had access to growing up in Portugal.

The Acrylic plate on the top is where the marquees/Game instructions are set.

I have the Golden Tee one but only because it's next to impossible to emulate it correctly otherwise.

Man i wish 1up would just do a evercade style arcade plug n play system for all the good ips they get.

Get a prefab mame cabinet if you don't want to build one. Even just playing mame on your computer with a fightstick is better than this crap.

Legends ultimate build quality is surprisingly good. High quality buttons and sticks, good speakers, solid screen. Coinopsx is excellent, although there is some audio delay, but honestly it's not a big deal, and may get improved. No video delay at all.

Good to hear, thanks! I'm definitely going to get one down the line. One of the main reasons I didn't go with them is Sam's club offers a $500 with free shipping/pickup and the pinball flipper attachment, but it's sold out everywhere near me. Would kill me to pay $600+shipping when I know that deal could potentially become available again.

One thing that made me really want ALU was the inclusion of spinners and a trackball.

>hook into zoomers
More like Gen-X and older Millennials. Most Zoomers don't have the money, room or Nostalgia factor for them. Look at the average arcade niche youtuber who covers them, that's the target audience. Hefty balding middle aged white dude with a goatee and/or glasses trying to fill up their man cave.
>whole recent "retro" craze
Retro shit is always being cashed in on for decades, but there has been a huge increase in movement with at-home-arcades in the last few years. Which I'm totally behind, but the A1UP's just don't look like they have the build quality to justify the purchase.
