Man, I remember getting this brand new when it came out. It was probably the first time in my life I got a brand new game as a new release at full price and regretted it so badly. This was such a shallow game honestly. It was fun for what it is, but it shouldn't have been a full price PS2 game.

I remember thinking the same thing when I played it. Fortunately I never bought it, a friend gave me it.
Speaking of paying full price for games new and being pissed off that you were duped, I've never experienced this more than when I begged my parents to buy me Rascal and they eventually relented. One of the worst games I've ever played and it had the potential to be really good until the "suits" stepped in and demanded a huge amount of changes that totally spoiled it and the devs basically said "fuck it." So that just made it even worse.

I know this is /vr/ but I can't help but mention pic related when it comes to edgy games.

i just started playing state of emergency again in pcsx2 and man this is a fucking fun game, i think i found it too hard as a kid and didn't really get what you're supposed to be doing

The original Postal is edgy in a brilliant way, it just feels really fucking visceral. Shame about the mediocre gameplay, I got like halfway before calling it quits but after finding out about the cool ending (which they pussied out completely by altering it in Redux) I just have to power through it.

in the book jacked it mentioned that state of emergency got significantly better press at E3 than GTA3, probably because the amount of NPCs on screen served as a good tech demo. people thought GTA3 looked boring in comparison.

the game really has an unsettling soundtrack in between the levels. i almost wish they would have tried to emulate the music/images between the levels into the game itself more as it moreover seems to play like a pretty generic top down shooter. i think the point was to represent what was going on inside his mind though and it makes the game more eerie i think. still the music and pictures are really unnerving.
