7781326 No.7781326 [Reply] [Original]

It's been a trend for a few years now with indie devs to make new games for old system. Do you think we'll start to see companies like Nintendo, Sega or even Capcom make new games for old systems? Nintendo especially milks their history for everything it's worth, so why not new games?

>> No.7781340

companies can already sell you old emulators with old games

they dont need to make new games

>> No.7781383

Doubtful they would, they want normie money and normies love emulation boxes with their 5 childhood games they can play once then forget exists.

>> No.7781391

Well we have seen Starfox 2 and Trials of Mana which do work on original hardware, so I guess it's possible. But no, no they won't.

I wish Nintendo would do special anniversary carts for StarFox 2, EarthBound Beginnings and that translation of Fire Emblem 1, all playable on their original hardware with all kinds of bits and shit package, scalper bait type deal, but I know they never will

They might make games in the same spirit, but actually making games for old hardware is a hipster marketing ploy.

Ninja Gaiden should appreciate this one. It goes metroidvania halfway but have not reach that point yet. Also has DLC. Didn't spend a dime because you can find it for free if you look good enough.
Also finally someone (like OP) is using retro as the definition it's means.

starfox 2 is complete trash and it's no fucking surprise why it was never released until recent years. nobody would have bought it. but bundle it with some toy console

Had Sega stuck with Mega Drive and never released Saturn or Dreamcast they may still be in business today.

>> No.7785479

They still are in business dumbass.
The CD and 32X are where they really began to fail. And the Saturn was massively popular here. It's failure in burgerland can only be blamed on the burgers. Kill the CD, 32X and Bernie and Sega might have had a chance to stay in the console market.

Sega already did. M2 made a new Darius for Genesis and GG Aleste for GameGear and paired these up with their mini consoles.
Rather have them remaster their old games, like Sega does, mostly. Panzer Dragoon needs a remaster.

I don't think Nintendo wants to do it because they want their stuff to be as pirate-proof as possible. That FE1 release was done in a way where it can't be ripped for NES emulation.

This uses MMC1 apparently and PRG RAM. I want to assume they had an FPGA implementation of MMC1, probably doable for a small cartridge run. At least they made a "proper" NES game instead of some bullshit like Nebs and Debs with 1992 graphics they tried to fit in their NROM PCBs they got off Ali Express.

it's incompatible with most megadrives because fonzie is a mentally disabled french frog that can't code and knows NOTHING about how the sega megadrive functioned. he completely forgot about how different revisions of megadrives have slightly different timings when powered on, completely fucking up the way his custom FPGA functions. the retarded french frog only tested his game on one version of the megadrive.
