Yes. They're easy enough to emulate, at least on PC. I know other platforms are more than powerful enough for MSX emulation but I'm not sure how much of a pain in the ass it is to do key bindings on Retroarch's core.

The GOG version of Metal Gear is the best.
Metal Gear 2 is probably best on the PS2, but there are many small changes from the original. It shouldn't matter much unless you are a purist.

MG1 is very hit or miss.
MG2 is fucking incredible, great music, snappy gameplay, memorable setpieces, it was a very pleasant surprise.

Both are kind of obscure in their progression though, so you can check a guide if you start running in circles.

Yeah they're great. Solid Snake is one of the best games in the entire series. MGS is basically a 3d remake of it.

The GBC game is another like these but much higher quality if you're interested (it's only called Ghost Babel in Japan to clarify for anyone lost) in a continuation of gameplay from the first two, or just the best of the three 2D Metal Gears.

Everybody bashes Snake's Revenge, but it's actually a decent game that does the basic stealth concept well enough... up until you reach those shitty side-scrolling areas which should never have been a thing. Still, Kojima admitted to liking it, and we would never have gotten MG2 without him learning of its existence.

I guess I would suggest at least an attempt on it.

Ghost Babel is Raiden's VR training during his training and preparation for the S3 (Solid Snake Simulation) plan that later took place during the Big Shell Incident in MGS2. It's also fun as fuck.
