It's not /vr/ and I don't know whether it can even be considered a particularly good Pac-Man game, but the matter of fact is that people don't go to the arcade to autismally chase high scores anymore, they go to the -barcade- to have a drink and have some fun with friends, and fun with friends is best had when you can play with them or against them, and with that in mind I'm certain one of these would fare far better than a classic Pac-Man or Ms. Pac-Man cabinet, especially if you're trying to run a business, not hoard cabinets in your basement.

Galloping Ghost is big, but it has its share of shortcomings. One of the most obvious is how little space they have for so many machines, so there are a lot of genres known for being housed in bigger machines that they have to largely skip out on (rhythm games, racing games, bigger light gun games).

Same here. I like Galloping Ghost (first went in 2012), but the space constrictions and the smokey-ish smell in particular kept me from enjoying that place for a while

Last time I went was in summer of 2019 though and by then they had freed up some space and it smelled fine. It's probably still my most favorite Illinois arcade, never tried their pinball building though

Don't do mame, get retroarch with a mame core. Makes it a zillion times easier. The issue with mame is its compatability and coinfiguration. Lots of that is handeled with retroarch, and the library translator is called cmpro. You need it to translate a .dat that matches your core, so all the games are the version it wants.

That shit confused me so much as a kid. They had one at a local roller skating rink. When I first saw it I was like holy fuck it's an arcade SMB this shit is going to be amazing. Then I realized it was just the same SMB I had at home. But in an arcade.

Hell, I'm still not even sure why it exists. Was it just to market the NES? Was it so Nintendo could claim the NES provided "arcade quality graphics"? Did they expect the NES to fail and wanted to retain their foothold in the arcade business?

Don't do anything past X. It was either made by Koreans and gooks so looks like crap.
So you can do other games that Nazca did that are neat, In the Hunt (the metal slug sub game they did while still working for irem) and Blazing Star (when they worked closer with SNK as yumekobo and made their R-Type clone, because after all they made R-Type while at Irem too).

Any Metal Slug after X is unpure and dogshit unless it's the NGPC or GBA ones, even the ports.
