Was there a mod for Doom in the midst to the late 90's that enabled jumping? I have this memory of playing Doom on my dad's friend's PC and pressing space to jump. I know I did some kind of odd vertical movement to get from platform to platform over some gaps with acid below, and they were too far between to just shift-run and strafe. No splash dammidge involved.

I really don't like the removal of multiplayer. Not because I played Doom 3 (I didn't) or was familiar with (actually I was surprirsed that it had multiplayer), but awful in terms of game preservation. A lot of people could've enjoyed if they just were able to actually try the damn thing.
Like... Just recently I looked for some Heretic/Hexen multiplayer videos... and there're so few of them. Surprisingly enough, Heretic 2 is the one who got the most love. There's very few of Heretic and Hexen DM videos. The worst case is Hexen 2: there's only one Deathmatch video I was able to find.
In moments like this, I wish someone did a review where he goes over ALL games features, not just singleplayer campaigns/levels and maybe saying "Yeah, there's multiplayer; Moving on".

To recharge them from nothing, you need a BFG. Charge the internal battery of the BFG, then press altreload to eject the external battery and load an empty or partial. Charge it up and then unload. Are you actually getting music, or are you getting nothing? The sound track is ambient, but if you're getting nothing it's probably because Quake originally played the music off the CD. You may need to find a way to get it working for whatever source port you're using.

Doom 4 is ok, but the level design is the weakest part, and it really isn't very impressive, it's far less refined in that regard than the original Doom, or Quake, or Duke Nukem 3D.

I think part of it is because modern level designers can't just free form with linedefs and brushes as they see fit, but rather they just assemble pre-made parts (so basically they're working with tilesets), which obviously has quite a lot of limitations, thus they can never get experimental on the fly or just do small different things, if they need a differently shaped room, they have to ask the art department to make it, and the art department may have to say no.

By TNT 2 I meant Devilution. I've played Revilution and loved it. I don't think it's in Team tnt style though. It has that modernized btsx influenced map design. Shorter more coherent maps and tighter more challenging gameplay, also modern aesthetics. Still it managed to capture all the good parts of Evilution, and be better in every way. It's said that Devilution will be even better, while still retaining the modernized map design. Revilution was mostly rejected maps from Devilution, so imagine how good the Devilution will be.

I plan on making a vanilla-strict Deathmatch megawad whose goal is to be able to run on Chocolate Doom, which I'll be calling Limewar, inspired by Greenwar and Dwango.
For MAP01 I created an (hand-made, not copypasted) amalgamation of MAP01 and E1M1's layouts and aesthetics, as well as their weapon rosters.

Decided to try Trooper's Playground. Wad from 1996. Level design is surprisingly good , leaving all 90s design sins out. There is one new enemy, zombie with super chaingun, which has as much hp as revenant. It's great addition and used in good spots. It's strange how this enemy has been just been forgotten while Obituary's rocket trooper gets still love even in modern wads (recently in Heartland).

Spent a minute running around paying attention to flow so here is what I noticed.
In deathmatch doors only exist to slow players down which is the opposite of what players should be doing. I would remove all the doors which will help preserve player momentum, I checked in Doombuilder and saw that even with all doors open the max visplanes rendered was 80 so you are fine on that front. The exit door can remain since that leads nowhere.
Also this window in pic related should be set to passable. Allowing players to move through the window creates a quick escape avenue for players in the courtyard but also puts them at risk for whatever may be lurking in that room just out of view.

I should've said "believable", as in something that feels like it could have some sort of real-life purpose. A lot of Doom 1 is like that. But this anon often posts pictures from Twitter (you can tell by the filename) of hyper-detailed maps with lots of neon colors, always with a gothic/hell theme. It's nice to see people trying to keep the WON/Sierra/CD/what-have-you version alive.
