Most of its demand is its difficulty to get. What’s that saying? Fans only want what they can’t have?

The Japanese game has plenty of English text and all the cutscenes are in English. The only thig you miss are flavor text notes and all of the puzzles bar one are super obvious, so there's nothing stopping Saturn fans from getting to experience the game for cheap. As I did.

FWIW it's a middling re clone that is wildly unbalanced (too easy) and has too many samey corridors. I still enjoyed the run for the shit tier voice acting though.

Wow, you don't say

As far as Resident Evil clones are concerned, past the obvious Dino Crisis and Silent Hill, Deep Fear is actually one of the better ones.

It's not great, the main issue being gameplay is too easy, but the game feels finished, it's not broken, the gameplay is tight, the hit detection is good, and all that, which might seem like basic things, is actually more than the majority of RE clones have. It's a broken genre.

Also the 3D models and their animations look absolutely amazing.

there is also an unreleased NTSC-U version online, presumably it's fully playable

it is fully playable, if I'm not mistaken it was literally a few days away from being shipped before they canned it

The worst is that he does the music but they only play music during cutscenes. Everything else in the game is droning ambience which makes it feel dry and dull.

Deep fear is kino of the highest order. To much soul for this world. I only wish it leaned more on the air gimmick, making it more limited since you got ammo lockers to refill your ammo every few rooms.

mednafen or beetle saturn or maybe Kronos

Just because it's rare doesn't make it worth while, and honestly the push behind prices is from reddit and youtube talk. Do you really want to play a game because they recommended it?
