While you may have internally decided that people aren't allowed to like it, the fact of the matter is everybody and their mother knows the lyrics of City Escape. What other video game song featuring lyrics is that notable? The only one I can think of is the original Pokemon anime theme song from the late 90s and maybe Jump Up Superstar from Mario 3D World, but even that's a big stretch. Unless you're gonna try to vouch for some incomprehensible vocaloid or weebshit nobody outside of Japan ever gave a damn about

Bystander here. I've been immersed in video game stuff since like 1986 and this is my first time encountering even the name of that song, let alone the sound of it. I just played it on YouTube. It was okay but not especially memorable. The singing and lyrics were weak. It wasn't super catchy or anything, so I don't know why it would ever have lodged in the minds of very many people's mothers. Obviously the players themselves would attach to it if they were kids, because that's what kids do. But maybe you are exaggerating the influence of this music. Like, by a lot.

Who cares about video game songs with lyrics? I mean they're relatively rare to begin with and they almost all suck, right? The Portal song was good, and I guess some rhythm games and such probably have exclusive songs here and there... well whatever. I'm very fond of the SA2 soundtrack. It's really fun to listen to, complements the game in a lot of places, and triggers both great and painful memories. It contributes a great deal to the game's charm. But I don't consider the music revolutionary by any means.

Its also the last good 3D Sonic game. MAYBE Shadow the Hedgehog is good. It's been so long with that one, that I'm not 100% sure.

Every modern 3D sonic game plays like a mobile game, where they steer for you, and all you need to do is hold up and jump. The Adventure games actually had full 3D control, actual platforming, cringe edge dialog instead of cringe preschool dialog, and no forced 2D segments.

If you didn't play the Dreamcast versions, you don't know dick about the Adventure games.
