Toby Maguire Spiderman 1 and 2. 2 is great, it's a really well designed open world and you're not into that 1 is level based.
I think Wolverine Adamantium Rage is a fun action platformer that looks good but the hit detection is so fucking bad the game is unplayable to a lot of people. It does feel like you're playing as Wolverine, if he was trying to fight with his eyes closed while on elephant tranquilizers(that suspended his regeneration powers through the use of deus ex machina)
XMen arcade is a pretty fun beat em up, and Captain America and the Avengers is decent as well. Maximum Carnage(with a soundtrack written by green jello) was another ok beat em up
Spider-Man from 1995 was pretty crappy but kind of cool just because of the villains, settings and the way some of the levels are designed. Ultimately suffers in a way similar to Adamantium Rage and Spiderman moves so slow. Not only is he slow but controls don't feel responsive and a lot of the enemies are fast and cheap like OP's mom. If you were a fan of the 90s tv show you might appreciate the art style at least.
Xmen Mutant Apocalypse was pretty good but was honestly one of the weaker SNES Capcom games, which doesn't mean it's bad by any means. Definitely challenging but a lot of fun.
There was also a Hulk game I had on PS2 that was simple but pretty fun. Basically you just run around causing chaos. guy shoots at hulk, hulk throws semi truck at him. plane shoots at hulk, hulk jumps off building onto it. 3d beat em up with a semi interactive environment.

For the most part a lot of comic games suffered from similar issues as other licensed games, they were shit. A couple I listed aren't even good, just interesting for various reasons. And of course there's all the Marvel vs Capcom games.

It had a good variety of levels and boss battles.
The controls and moves gave a good feeling of being Spiderman - the web swinging, climbing - and you could dispatch normal enemies in many different ways which made it fun to replay.
It had a good story with voice acting which for me was on par with the cartoon I was familiar with, nice quality for a video game.
And it had lots of secrets and collectibles that were fun and rewarding to find, especially the alternate costumes.

Is it the 2003 movie tie in game or the 2008 movie tie in game? Those are the only other PS2 Hulk games I know of. The 2003 game was a linear, 3D beat em up with cel-shaded graphics and the 2008 game was an open world, mission based game like Ultimate Destruction.

I was actually thinking of mentioning it but I only ever played it over a weekend rental. I thought it was pretty cool but not enough time with it to talk about it. The voice acting was top notch. I remember they didn't get Hugh Jackman to voice wolverine but they got Mark Hamill. I was a huge Star Wars nerd at the time and I knew he voiced the Joker in Batman TAS and Hobgoblin in Spiderman TAS so I thought that was really fucking cool(also Cock Knocker).

I remember the spikey guy reviewing it on Judgment Day and he was complaining that the game was hard and that Wolverine's healing wasn't fast enough that he could just tank enemies and then run to safety while he got his health back. I only mention that because I looked up the Spiderman 95 game earlier and saw the other guy from Judgment Day worked on the sound track.

People seriously don't give this game enough credit. It was ingenious to use that gas excuse given the limitations at the time.

Even when it came out, other devs struggled to reach the same quality. I feel that without free roaming system it helps making the levels stand out more.

90s Marvel had its issues, like BIG issues given the quality but in a way I miss it.
Spidey had its dose of terrible stuff around 80s and 2000s as well.

The clone saga going for far too long and One More Day.

there's a lot of unnecessary repetitive levels, and the gimmicky ones are much more annoying than fun, very few of them stand out as good to play through, also drab texture work, most levels have very flat and uninspired colorless lighting and boring level design, half of the game's levels consist of just buildings or flat squares

I like it more on organized OG hardware because of native analog support, which you don’t have on ps1 without a DualShock. The lack of ost and cutscenes kind of sucks though on n64. I grew up with the n64 version though, so I prefer it.

N64 version is very good, it might be the best depending on what you're looking for. It has brighter visuals and faster load times than Dreamcast version. It's also surprisingly clean looking for an N64 game, like it puts a lot of that blurry library to shame in terms of looks. However, Dreamcast has the updated textures and models that the PC version also has. If you want the best version of the original game, with its original texture work and color profile, it's the N64 version. If you want the updated textures and models, it's only on Dreamcast and PC, but both of these versions have a darker image. It's not really a case where one version is clearly the best.

PS1 version has the most soul, and I'm pretty sure was the main platform. Neversoft's engine just works really well with the grungy, jagged nature of the PS1 look.
