Bloodlines is a pain in the ass to speedrun. The damage gained from your fully powered up whip (when it looks electric) is lost upon taking ANY damage.

Bad games can be good speedruns and vice versa.

Although I would agree that casually this game is leagues better than Super Castlevania 4 in every dimension.

Case in point, the first boss is super random, so it's an easy fight normally, but you're pretty much rolling the dice trying to defeat speedily without getting hit.

Bloodlines is really hard to speedrun but then so is Super CV4 due to all the optimizations it has available, difference is Bloodlines will tank your time and punish you in a more obvious way when you make mistakes.

The last stage is super long but i've still seen runs for it. There are some neat things like Eric's super jump being able to skip around some vertical segments and some parts of levels entirely.

It's a super punishing run if you get hit since the game has a ton of bosses, and to rip through them fast you need the level 4 powerup you get by either breaking 50 normal candles or getting lucky with the book you can find in some walls (50/50 of giving you level 4). If you get hit while you have the level 4 powerup, you lose it and have to hope you can break 50 candles in time for the sections where you really need it. Also they're typically run on expert where you take a lot more damage.
