Besides the blatant shitposting, I've been playing Project MSX on various WADs. Another anon was pretty accurate on how it feels like a "generic shooter" mod besides the power punch (which is still awesome); however, the shield goes down quickly, and its cool to be able to carry medkits to use when you want. Overall: despite feeling "generic," it is still fun to power punch a cyderdemon into a bloody fountain.

Depends on the situation more than anything. Generally they keep enemies from aiming straight at you, so you hardly need to move around at all to avoid their fire. On the other hand, it's fun for mapmakers since you can actually make it a powerdown by throwing Mancubi into the mix and have it become an unpredictable first-person bullet hell.

A chaingun does 5-15 damage, and typically Around 20 damage a a tap, sometimes more sometimes less. For 200 health bare, that'd be ten taps. From far away that shit would mostly shred you with an aimbot.

This looks really good for amateur hour. It's a great WIP. But please take a look at introductory animation tutorials. Yours looks like the torso is floating in mid air or more like it's fixed to a crane and the arms and legs just act as paddles without actually carrying any weight.

You have to consider that while running your whole body weight bounces from one foot to the other repeatedly and that makes the whole body jump up and down. Every step taken while running is essentially a little jump.

The motion you created is already very good and impressively fluid but it's based on a wrong understanding of how running works. Just some little fixes and it should look perfect.

Her animation is going to be fast enough that she's not going to have a lot of hang time. All right, downloaded a good haul of shooters, the whole of second wave(but don't know if they work yet), downloaded 9 Amiga titles (need to get their sequels)(Amiga emulation is difficult because of a plethora of different system roms without documentation, will extend torrent release by a little), and will begin working on those tomorrow. There are so many renditions of Battlezone, I didn't even know. Adding the arcade version of the game the only way I know how, via an Atari game collection SNES ROM(thats right, you guys are getting a few non FPS games, sorry).

Sailing smoothly, probably wont get the torrent done in 2 weeks, however. Might, but probably not. To be safe, and to mask over my ETA stated previously, it may be done in a month. I play with only mipmapping and anisotrophic filtering, the latter is set up to x16 through the Nvidia control panel since most of the time it looks nicer than any other game's own AF. Mip-maps only because the ground and walls won't look so weird when I'm moving.

Speak for yourself. I've run Holy Hell w/ Russian Overkill before with no issue. Even did a co-op session with a buddy and slaughtered hordes together without any issues.

It's more that, there has to be an obscene number of monsters active and in-view at any given time for the framerate issues to come up; Holy Hell may have twice as many monsters as Nuts, but you'll never fight but a fraction of them at any given moment.

I am attempting to play Doom 64 for the first time on my PC, and I want to play it with a controller so it feels a little more authentic, but I don't want Doom64ex to detect that I have a controller, because then it wont allow me to configure my controls. Is there any way to do this? I use xpadder, so it isn't necessary for the game to recognize it as a controller, and the default controls they give a controller is horrendous (3 buttons to change weapon, left bumper to jump, etc), not to mention that the joystick support is sluggish and strange compared to mouse.

Guys my singleplayer game on Zandronum with Brutal Doom somehow got set to multiplayer mode.

How fix?

If I finish the level I am on the next one starts me out in in ghosting mode and when I do spawn it asks me for a team and only gives me the default rifle and there's a fucking cyberdemon...

How do I fix this? I can't find any option that seems to have an effect.

At long last, it is done. I've beaten Hexen with all 3 classes. Cleric was definitely easiest for the bosses, whereas Fighter was easiest in general. Mage was pretty middle of the road honestly, too slow to be fun and weapons were surprisingly ineffective, aside from the centaur raping lightning.

This has also stopped me from pointlessly updating FKER, but I'm ready to go again so suggestions are welcome.

Fractal Doom has been updated!

--The minimarine launcher that origninally appeared in VincentPrice's "fractal_addon_0.01" has been added to fractal doom as a fist altfire. It now has a custom animation, and will correctly increase throw distance when the altfire is held. It takes 10 health and a special minimarine ammo to use; the ammo is gathered from berserk packs, each of which gives 4 minimarines. 12 can be held at a time, 24 with a backpack. Pic related.

--Minimarines are now the same color as the player that spawned them.

--Added a bit of blood and sound effects to the random spawning of minimarines, which still occurs.

--The cyberdemon and minicyberdemon have had their pain chance reduced

--Changed the number of rockets required to fire the rocket launcher's altfire from 15 to 16.

--Changed the amount of ammo received from a single rocket from 1 to 2.

--Changed the max health medikits and stimpacks can increase the player's health to from 100 to 150.

--Decreased the BFG altfire's invulnerability duration from 8 to 6.

--Decreased the Health and speed of miniarachnotrons

--Significantly reduced the health of the smallest lost souls and the smallest imps.

--Fixed an issue that caused revenant rockets to deal more damage than they should have.

--Fixed an issue that caused armor bonuses to be invisible.

--Fixed an issue that caused megaspheres to give less health and armor than intended to the player.

most maps, especially third-party maps, were designed to be done from a pistol start. a dead giveaway is the presence of a weapon, usually a shotgun, in easy reach of the start.

those meant to be played "ammo carried forward" are rare. the most obvious sign is the presence of large amounts of ammunition for a weapon that only exists on a previous map, so that you were obviously meant to bring it with you.

a less convincing sign is the presence of a new weapon, soulsphere/armour, or large cache of ammo at the _end_ of a level; something of no use because you've already finished this map, so the implication is you're meant to have it for the start of the next one. however, that is more usually thoughtless map design or perhaps an author's "signature" (Skillsaw's Medikit, for example)

finally, regardless of how the map was designed, it almost always can be beaten from a pistol start. this is certainly true of all IWAD maps (cf. DHT, Compet-n...). i believe there is a quote from someone from id, either Romero or Petersen, saying they did most of their testing from pistol starts and as a result the game was too easy if you carried your stuff from map to map... go figure.

They all do different things, but they function similarly.

The Heavy Machinegun has the best Damage Per Shot of any of the regular bullet weapons, however, the firing rate is rather slow and it's not very accurate. This limits its ability to kill many enemies or kill large enemies quickly.

The Chaingun Has the fastest firing rate of any of the automatics, but it needs to warm up and it also not very accurate. It also has a middle of the road Damage Per Shot. While arming up and cooling down it also fires, wasting ammo if you're not extremely careful. It can easily chew through any group of enemies or large enemy in front of it, but it's difficult to use and also "slow".

The Submachinegun has an extremely high firing rate, and fires in quick 3-round bursts. It has the lowest Damage Per Shot, but needs no warming up and is the most accurate automatic. Due to its high firing rate, it can easily flinch most monsters, and can do so effectively over long distances. It is also effective at killing weaker soldiers quickly due to its high firing rate and (while still relatively low) decent damage. In fact, you can probably kill a room of Zombiemen faster with the SMG than the HMG.

The Autoshotgun isn't really comparable, since it's a different weapon class, but I'll do it anyway quickly. It's got only a slightly larger spread than the shotgun, and fires much faster, but it fires less pellets and does less damage per pellet. Good on weak guys, bad on strong guys.

Yeah. Those pixels shwed up when I changed the palette on the sprites. I'm probably going to end up re-rendering once more to fix it. It's most likely because there is some green the in spec map over the grey areas, and dooms palette is pretty limited.

The white on her helmet is just specular lighting though. The blue pixels I can fix...
