Street Fighter vs. Mortal Kombat thread

I get the feeling most people here prefer SF. I like MK more. That might just because I played it first but I like the moves and characters more. Hadouken just doesn't feel as good Scorpion's spear or Jonny Cage's crotch punch

MK 1 - 2 > street fighter *

MK3 was the beginning of MK's decay.

"Hey guys, MK3 wasn't really a finish game. So, here's our buggy upgrade with the old favorites we meant to put in. What? Oh, you're not satisfied. Here's another buggy game with ALMOST EVERY CHARACTER IN OUR PAST GAMES."

At least the sf2 and sf3 upgrades were good

MK3 first mistake was leaving out Scorpion. Every arcade I visited that had vanilla MK3 was left alone in favor of MK2 and those that did play it had always picked Smoke (Cyber Smoke for the lols) or Kabal.

Typical thing. That was in every MK. Most of the time, there was a cheat to turn it off. Even then, the game limited you to only two juggles.

I love MK 1 and 2. I like how MK9 brings back the mood and atmosphere of those games but the fighting system is stiff and awkward. On the opposite side SF's story and tone is lighter and forgettable but the gameplay is solid even though it's now option select fighter 4 unblockable edition. I just play offline with friends.

I was reading character profiles on UMK3 DS and I realized something. The storyline for MK is batshit retarded, but it's so fucking stupid that it actually becomes entertaining. Everything is just so silly and over the top that I can't help but feel charmed by the whole thing.

Was a solid game. I liked that it brought the best of Street fighter (combos, six button silliness) and Mortal Kombat (nice real looking characters and backgrounds). With an over the top story line and unique characters. To bad Rare don't do games like this no more. KI 2 was one of the best games I played.

I've always felt MK, and WFightan games in general are slower paced, and less combo based. Moves don't "flow", they feel disconnected and weird.
