General purpose Bard's Tale thread.

Which installment should i start with? Which version?

>> No.749678

Start with the first and keep your party for the later parts. It doesn't have an automap so you will need to do the mapping manually.
I only played the IBM version but judging by screenshots the Amiga version is the best.

The first one is the least frustrating.

Why?

Is this a good game for someone really bad at this genre? I love its style.

No, it's not really friendly for beginners.
Might and Magic 3 and onward are a better bet.

The NES version is going to be easier to set up and play than the computer ones

except that BT III is computer-only, so you can't play that on a console

Bard's Tale II on the NES is Japan-only because it was a late game (1992) and they didn't see it as worth releasing here at that point.

But all you did was copy the disk to a HDD or another floppy.
BT came before the age of Soundblaster and other stuff that required setup.

>NES version
>insert cartridge
>press Power
>win

You forgot no load time or need to have a save floppy

dis nigga has obviously never tried to set up an Amiga emulator

>> No.750196

But that's just one of many computers and some people here actually own the real deals instead of relying on emulation.

>>750174
The time it takes to even get the cartridge is longer than the time it takes to install. Once you've got it on HDD you can switch between various games without needing to change the physical medium. Load times are basically non-existent as well.
