How do you get back into games after not playing them for days or weeks on end?

Do you watch the cutscenes or read a synopsis of everything up to the point you left off? Do you just restart the game if it's been that long?

I'm 24 hours into Kingdom Hearts and stopped playing for 2 weeks due to life and my CRT breaking down. I feel like I won't get the maximum enjoyment like I would if I played it all at once, everything fresh in my mind, but I also don't want to just rush through the whole damn thing again.

I restart if it's been a long time but 2 weeks isn't a long time.

What did he mean by this?

I’m in the same boat as you OP, once I leave a game alone for more then 4-5 days, I know that I won’t be coming back to it without just forgetting fucking everything. It’s not the same, you are right, and the only thing I can do for myself In those situation is to play a different game and come back about 6 months minimum to kingdom hearts, start from scratch, and hope for the best.

>>7491478
See, had you played actual retro games instead of faggot shit like Kingdom Hearts and worrying like a pussy about fucking cutscenes you'd not have this problem.
Pop in a cartridge game and just play, kids in the 80s and 90s did it all the time so why the fuck are you being such a bitch?

>>7491478
restart and just catch up to where i was before, since usually the stuff i do remember makes it an easier/quicker experience than the first time

but yeah, 2 weeks isn't restart-worthy. i'd say i'd have to have not played for a couple months to restart

I meant nothing by "fire". That wasn't in my post.
Goldfish are said to have a 5 second memory. You probably heard this before but forgot because you have a goldfish brain.

I use this really cool tool called the Hippocampus you see I play through the game then later when I come back to it I close my eyes and see what it was I was doing before I stopped. 10/10 would recommend you try it!

i went back to my twilight princess save in 2013 after not touching it for 7 years and i had absolutely no idea what was going on. i ended up going around talking to basically every NPC. it was kind of fun trying to piece it together. i couldnt remember any of the story so i had no idea wtf the NPCs were talking about

Not anon here, but some people go on 4chan late at night after a day of work/school. I have made far too many grammatical mistakes myself in this forum.

However, it is still pretty funny that he didn't admit to saying fire.

Don't move the goalposts. You never mentioned anything about typing, you just said the word fire "wasn't in [your] post."
Just leave before you embarrass yourself any further.

Having a goldfish brain is fire. 2 weeks after you finish the game you'll forget everything and can play it again for this first time.

Sometimes i'll look at a gamefaq guide and try to find where I was without spoiling anything. I try my best to read only as far as "go to X". Saves me time headbutting the game for 30 mins because I can't remember what clue the devs gave me.

I've been playing PS:T like this recently but I think it fits in with the themes so I don't worry too much.
With other RPGs I may sometimes reset but only if they don't feature a decent journal, since reminding you where you left off is one of a journal's core functionalities.
For non-RPGs you shouldn't even care, there isn't much important stuff to remember in them anyway, besides core mechanics.
