I get this has better functionality than an original GBA but I can't imagine this being comfortable to play long-term over the age of 15 unless you have manlet hands. Seems like the far smarter option is to backlight an AGB-001 in this day and age unless you're really into collecting limited edition consoles.
it has been about that length of time since I've held one though so keep that in mind

Anons I found my SP the other day and threw it away. Did I sin?

I didn’t even think about it man. I assumed no one would want it because kids are zoomers nowadays

That's unfortunate dude
hope it wasn't a proper backlit one

Anon from day 1 there were grown adults using the DMG, and lemme fuckin tell ya my parent wouldn't have bought me the same handheld with minor revisions like 2-3 times as a kid

There are third-party grip attachments that make it more comfortable.

Am I the only one who hates the newer ips screens? It just feels like playing with an emulator

>> No.7478238

>>7478201
I have one and feels exactly like that.
that's why I ordered another screen from the chinks and hopefully is 1:1.

this one:

Most of the games were designed for the AGS-001 screen. They have really garish colors that look bad on anything brighter.

>> No.7478247

>>7478238
That's pretty cool
>>7478241
My problem is with ip screens is that they lack the "gameboy look" with their higher pixel density. I have no problem wirh their colors ( to me even the original AGB001 screen had such colors when well iluminated)

>> No.7478248

>>7478201
they look clean, but personally I just prefer the 101 screen I ordered a few years back
I'll probably have to use an IPS screen if I ever mod a GBC, though

I got an modded IPS AGB and a micro, can't decide which to keep.
>IPS AGB
larger screen
better shoulder buttons
more ergonomic
AA batteries
brighter colors look better for some games (eg warioware)
gb/gbc support
>micro
"pixel perfect" screen (no pixel doubling)
better d-pad
ultra-portable
rechargeable battery
more natural colors look better for some games (eg donkey kong country)
kawaii and aesthetic

What do, anons?

Why do zoomers thing you deathgrip controllers to use them? Your palms don't even need to touch it to use it properly.

Mod the IPS AGB with the rechargeable battery No soldering and you get the convenience of USB-C, you also get a new battery cover so you don't damage the old one

why do zoomies think having oversaturated colors is good?

Did you read the rest of my post?
It looks good in Warioware Twisted because it suits the colorful style of the game. Meanwhile in Donkey Kong Country 3 some levels look like nuclear garbage and hurt my eyes to look at for extended periods of time.
Overall it isn't worth it, but it does make me wonder how normies convinced themselves that this is better than the AGS-101 screen.

>> No.7479518

My dude, all the GBA DKC ports look like nuclear garbage on either handheld. You're gonna need to find a better comparison to get your point across.

>> No.7479540

>>7479492
I also have an IPS modded gba (sp with funnyplaying) and warioware is tolerable, but obviously saturated.
on other games which are less colorful you still notice the colors are kinda off. specially if you know how are supposed to look.

I have large amerimutt hands that match my huge benis size yet I find this perfectly comfortable to play on. It's not near as bad as it looks, though a GBA has a little better form factor.

You have to remember, they were brought up on their dad's old Wii. They think you have to have a fucking strap attached to your wrist, a death grip isn't enough.

I liked how compact it was but the GBA fit way better in my hands, the SP was just uncomfortable to hold for any good length of time.

I've had the frontlight model since childhood.
Only real gripe I have is with the L/R buttons feeling "cheap".

I have long hands and I've never had a problem using an SP, and I like the buttons way more than the original.
It's really annoying seeing these threads all of the time, even worse that you've admitted to not holding one recently.
