Minish Cap has the worst overworld design of the 2d games. Obnoxious obstacles everywhere that make getting from one section of the map to the next a total chore. Game is also way too easy.

true but the final boss is actually pretty fucking hard for a zelda game

What do you define the Zelda formula as?

>> No.7476845

>>7476829
Not OP but
>go to dungeon
>get new item
>use item to kill boss
>use item to get to next dungeon
>repeat
Or that's what I thought it was until I came to /vr/. Suddenly Zelda was always about going to any dungeon you want because that's what the first game was like.

How literally every Zelda game is played, except for that awkward redheaded trans cousin called AoL

>> No.7476854

>>7476845
Well yeah, your formula doesn't describe Zelda 1 or 3 in fact.

Rules are pre-2000s systems (and ports and remakes of games originally released for those systems), not necessarily pre-2000s games. Game Boy Color came out in 1998.

I died to the final boss only once because it killed me as I was figuring out how to kill it. After that I never died again. It was also my first death in the game.

not surprised at all

Seasons was fun. I do prefer Link's Awakening's dungeon- and overworld design, but Seasons had dramatically better bosses.

Ages was dramatically better at turning 'Fun' into a fine paste and extreting it all over the cartridge.

I also prefer Seasons to Ages, the latter has way too much filter and backtracking.
Kind of wish Seasons didn't start out so simple and used its main gimmick for a dungeon like Ages did, though.

It would have been really cool if the temple of seasons was actually a full dungeon.
