If you guys have the chance, play Hugo 2.
Hugo was a television show here in Germany (and other European countries I guess) where you could play video games live with your phone. Shit was weird but interesting to watch as a kid. I always tried to get into the show but never did, so I was happy when they released the games from the show on gameboy.
Sadly, "Hugo" on Gameboy was a disappointment for me, because it was a reskin of "Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle 2 and had absolutely nothing to do with Hugo.
Then Hugo 2 came along and was pretty much everything I hoped for. It didn't have the funny "death"-animations from the show, but other than that, the games were pretty much exactly like the onces I knew.
Some dude on romhacking.net even made an english translation for the game.

various technical things I found out the hard way while modding:
>every single dpad that comes with shell kits has a shorter bottom nub compared to the original dpad, it makes it nearly unusable, I prefer to reuse the original.
>I don't know if the contact pads are better or worse than the original ones, I cleaned the originals with isopropyl alcohol and they seem to work great, anybody knows if the "new" contact pads are any better? they do have a completely different textures
>the screws that come with the shell kits are CRAP and the head fucks up every time, the original screws are extremely resistant but I didn't have them for the spare game boy
>I had an ips v1 mod that I completely ruined for a bunch of reasons, it was pretty shit anyway, IPS V2 is the best

I've been looking for this game for a little while but the shipping costs as much as the game itself most of the time. It's a CIV like game for the gameboy, super complex.

I love me some GB. Just ordered another couple DMGs as I was bothered that I only have one. I really wanted a clear one, so I bought a busted one that looks easy to fix, but then I saw a good deal on another one with a busted screen, so I bought that and I'm going to mod it with one of those weird 3" screens just to see what it's like. After that I'll probably sell it; I don't see much point in the IPS mods and other such things, as they end up looking more like some emulator than they do the actual game. I have a New 3DS with the fullset on there, so I don't need to modify OG hardware for my visual pleasure. Still, I like repairing busted units and if I mod it then it's worth more, and it already has a broken screen, so I might as well.

Anyway, I'm rambling. What are you playing /gb/? I am trying to decide if I want to play Ninja Boy 2 or Cutthroat Island next.

Yeah there's an ink blot on the screen, can't really do anything unless I replace it which would cost me about as much as buying a new game boy. There's a few dead lines on the sides which are fixable fairly easily but I'm a little scared of opening the GB and I don't mind having a manual desu it seems like an interesting game and finding such a complicated game on the gameboy actually surprised me

You might struggle to do much good without it, just giving fair warning. A lot of things happen in the game without much explanation otherwise.

Shame about the DMG; How do you fix dead lines normally? If the screen is too unusable otherwise, then I'd just buy a mod screen, mod it, and then sell it online to buy a new replacement.
