Can someone who is familiar with kaido battle explain some shit about TXR Drift 2 to me? What the fuck does 'winker tune' do, and what the fuck is the 'passing' button for? As far as i can tell, pressing L2 (passing button) just makes my lights strobe, does this psych opponents out or something?

>> No.7439291

>>7438936
Winker tune turns on all your lights (think of it as permanently turning your hazards on) when you have the lights on at night or when you turn them on.

Also the light strobe thing is done in Endurance racing and I'm guessing it was common during touge battles to indicate you are going for a pass at the next corner. Probably just added as a fun thing like how some opponents turn off headlights to try and do a "blind attack" on you.

always wondered why the cars were shinier on PS2/OGxbox most wanted compared to pc
it's actually because of the shadow quality option
disabling the dynamic shadows (there are still baked shadows so it looks the same as how it is on ps2/xbox almost but not quite) then the cars look shiny again
i think the PS2/xbox version have their own shadows that has a simple car shadow that can't be replicated on PC, you either have full dynamic car shadows or none at all

Okay, we can put this mystery to bed. The game is road wars and its trash, but the good kind. Clearly mis-remembering stuff, but still. Also it was fun searching for it and seeing old gems like Ford Racing and Tank Racer.

I'm thinking about trying out the Tokyo Xtreme Racer games, should I start with 3 or Zero?

>> No.7477253

>>7477238
Zero is an updated version of 2 with no licensed cars (they go by body) It's a bit slower then 3 in getting races.

3 has licensed cars but a lower list of cars due to the license. English versions have a bug that make it impossible to 100% without cheat codes. But 3 has a few new areas and it feels faster getting race to race. I due recommend grabbing a guide for them though. Both are good but the genki games are not for everyone. The physics in them are pretty questionable and take some time to get used to. There's also Tokyo Xtreme Drift 2 which has a ton of touge fanservice in it over the high way racing.

I also forgot to mention C-one Grand Prix which was a japan exclusive but has a mix of real tracks and high way battles. as well as a lot of customization. It's unique and worth a quick look if you like racing games. just be warned it's in Japanese with only enough English to navigate.

Eh ignoring the lack of widescreen support for the moment even at high internal resolution the PS2 version doesn't look as crisp.
