Can we make a list of games with really 90s vibes and/or aesthetics?

I've wondered about Zoop for years. I've played all kinds of crap over the years but it's definitely one of the most garbage, blandest, unfun games there is. If there are people out there who hold it in high regard then it must be some glitch in the matrix or sign that reality isn't real, that's how fucking terrible it is.

I remember reading its wiki page or something and it made it out to have some kind of legacy. There were even quotes from the devs talking as though it were some kind of carefully crafted masterpiece, not to mention a sea of positive reviews. The fact it even got published on multiple platforms seems like a fucking miracle.

If any of this is true someone out there needs to explain it to me because it almost feels like I've been ultra-filtered by it without realizing.

I thought it was fun. The strong audiovisual presentation carried it pretty far. I never found much depth in it and I still don't know whether it had any. I liked it for a short while and then stopped playing it, still feeling positively toward it. I think that's an okay way for a game to function, as long as your parents are paying for it and not you (or you're just renting it).

But yeah a game like that doesn't deserve the kind of treatment you say you found. It isn't any big deal, this game... unless I missed something big in it somewhere, which I doubt.

Obviously OP meant games that look/feel especially like the 90s, contemporary pop culture. So like, toejam and earl with the hypercolors and saying "radical" and stuff like that.

Things like basically any fantasy games from the 90s wouldn't qualify for this thread because they aren't "90s-y" vibes per se. Unless king arthur had a skateboard or beatboxed or something?

>Pic related is to illustrate the difference between early 2000s vibes and 90s vibes (even though millenium stuff like jet set radio retains a lot of late 90s vibes, but it's clearly distinct from "Classical" early/mid 90s like toejam/earl)

There aren't, I own Zoop for the megadrive and it's an average puzzle/stack/match the colour game. It's no Tetris, it's no Columns, it's not even KLAX, it tries to be a bit of all, it's good for a few minutes of play with some pretty interesting music and that's about it.
I wouldn't outright call it garbage, it's just an innocuous game that tries a different take on the popular "addictive" fast paced puzzle genre that was better exemplified in the three games I mentioned earlier.

I can't see how anyone could despise it, it's not all that well known, it's not a blatant rip off of any other game, it's not a complete waste of time, it's just... OK?

It was published to what, 2 consoles and 2 handhelds? OK, if you own the GB version that might be garbage because of the lack of colour and it can't hold a candle to the almighty GB tetris but next to no-one ever talks about this game and it is far from popular.

Also encouraged, games actually set in modern times (from the 90s) like Shenmue and Earthbound, or arguably even Pokemon?

I will tell you why Zoop is a masterpiece: It's like playing two Game & Watch titles all at once. You have a shooter (think of the pieces as zombies approaching your safe zone) and then you have the color matching mechanic which requires some on-the-spot instinctive strategy. It's not so much of a puzzle game, even though it does appear to be one at a first glance. It's one of the best SNES arcade games, shame it has barely any content though.

The sequel was actually released in the 90s, I think? I'll just post the image and then look at it in my own post and find out.

Any examples from in-game or ad of a typewriter font in all lower case?
