Hi, /vr/! I just wanted to say that, among all the other boards, especially /v/, you guys have been the friendliest and most welcoming I've ever seen. I hope it stays that way for as long as the internet stands. Thank you so much.

In other news, let's discuss Treasure and why they're so great!

Well, thank you.

Treasure games sure are nice, I especially enjoyed Bangai-O and Guardian Legend(s?).
Never been too much into Radiant, though. I love shoot'em up, but I don't have much fun with this one...

I love Bangai-O, it's like a homage to all these fuckawesome 80s anime mecha shows with a gorillion missiles flying shit up in every direction.
I reccommend experiencing the N64 version, the game was built to be played with the N64 controller in mind (as usual with Treasure, they ALWAYS are very aware on how to make a game work perfectly with the controller of the system they're developing for), and the combo system is arguably more challenging than the point system from the DC ver. Both are good anyway and worth a try.

Ikaruga is much better than the overcomplicated RS, but it's not retro enough yet.

Or is it because it was on the Dreamcast?

>> No.742372

>>742348
I'm not a huge fan of RS or Ikaruga, but I think that with Radiant Silvergun I might just need to give it a few more hours to really learn how to play it. Ikaruga looks nice, but I don't enjoy the gimmick of it.

Well, the polarity system is a lot more fun than Radiant Silvergun's overabundance of weapons.

I feel it was a bit more tighly designed and interacts more creatively with the levels and bosses.

oh and also check out Light Crusader for genesis (I believe).

It plays like Zelda. gorgeous game. I didn't get very far but it looks pretty cool and has tons of features and spells.

And that's the great thing with Treasure. Usually companies just think of 1 good gimmick and exploit it until it wears out.
Treasure keeps coming up with great ideas, and when you want more, they come up with more good ideas. Only in recent years they've been doing sequels.
You will always see people asking for another Mischief Makers, or another Alien Soldier, because those games had great unique mechanics that actually play and feel good, and make the game a good challenge, without any sort of bullshit. They are an independent, free-lance kind of company anyway, most of their staff work in other projects for money most of the time and only work together as Treasure every once in a while.

Can't wait to see what new thing are they doing for 3DS.

did AVGN make a Mischief Makers episode?
I gotta watch it.

Sillhouette Mirage is also pretty cool, too bad Working Designs totally fucked up the english version and ruined the game's balance.

I cannot into this game

saturn emulation broken and PSX runs but is fucked for the reasons you gave

Nah, it just appeared on the intro to his episodes, but he later admitted to have never played the game, he just grabbed a random game from his collection and stared at it as if it was a shitty game even though it's one of the most loved by Treasure fans.

He picked the wrong kind of random game to do that.

Treasure Boss battles why are the always the best?

The even made a game with almost nothing but bosses.

Anyone tried the new game by Ikaruga's creator, Kokuga, I think it was? 3DS, I think digital-only, and will be localized and released in the west. Already out in Japan.

Not exactly Treasure but still related.

My issue isn't that its gimmicky, just that I don't like its particular gimmick. I don't think that the color switching is very much fun. Unique, not a bad game. Just not for me.

>but he later admitted to have never played the game

he's such a fucking retard sometimes. honestly and not in a charming way. makes me angry because whenever they show some shitty gimmick for video games on his show or play a chinese bootleg, you can count on both hands how often he says "I dunno...". he's just a mindless hoarder in that regard.

I heard a good review about that game. It's slower paced and more comparable to top-down tank games like combat but is supposed to be really well-made.
