what's the go-to snes emulator these days?

>> No.7419885

If you're some sort of autist who can't move on from ZSNES, ZMZ is a fine alternative to bsnes. There's no other reason to use any other emulator besides bsnes unless you have a Pentium 2 or something.

>> No.7419920

The correct answer is of course MiSTer.

>> No.7419923

it's not the 90's anymore, any fucking emulator around will do what you want, this isn't the era of EKAF and other obvious emulators, hell, there is even a wiki, run by this board, about your question linked in the motherfucking sticky

>> No.7419935

>>7419923
That wiki is run by /emugen/ on /vg/ because /vr/ has the shittiest takes on emulation.

Your objectively incorrect statement wasn't necessary or warranted after bsnes was the first and only necessary post, but at least you didn't say ZSNES.

Not until they implement MSU-1 in there. I want to play BS Zelda with voiceovers like the Soundlink broadcast on a consumer CRT, and so far the only alternative is a Wii.

I use snes9x on android and pc. It's comfy. Why are people ITT saying it sucks though? Should I immigrate to a different emulator and if so, why?

If it does what you want it to acceptably, there's no reason to change to another one.

Wait, the Wii can do MSU-1 shit? Tell me more.

>> No.7420105

>>7420087
Recent (post-2016 or something) versions of Snes9x GX can play MSU-1 games. Use the same file structure as flashcarts or Snes9x on PC.

Yo, kickass. I installed the latest SNES 9X RX on my Wii U so I'll look into it.
Thanks anon, you're cool.

I guess if you're not on a toaster bsnes is the better choice now since it's completely accurate. Snes9x is still pretty accurate and some of it includes work done by byuu so I think even if you're on capable hardware there won't be much difference.

What was that emu with the bloody hands and the snow background again? That was peak comfy and was the one I used as a kid.

I still remember the days of madly hitting f5 on emulation news pages like zophars domain or the homepages of the emulators themselves, waiting for new WIP shots and news, it was a wild time and you never knew what was coming next, a hundred fake emulators and ten thousand scenedrama flamewars

Snes9x doesn't suck and it's the best SNES emulator after bsnes.
>Should I immigrate to a different emulator and if so, why?
bsnes is objectively better than Snes9x, but you're not going to notice any of the inaccuracies in Snes9x unless you're going out of your way to play incredibly obscure games for the sole purpose of finding these inaccuracies. Do you need to switch? No. If you have a computer without a SNES emulator and you need to download one, should you download and use objectively inferior software because "it's comfy"? No.

bsnes. Snes9x is fine most of the time but there's a few odd compatibility issues that bsnes simply doesn't have. Plus more accurate Super FX timing, Super Game Boy support, and HD Mode 7 upscaling.

If you want to have the best experience with an emulator, but miss how ZSNES looked then good news. Someone made a version of Snes9x with the ZSNES GUI. https://www.smwcentral.net/?p=section&a=details&id=5681
