The eternal debate...

Was Secret of the Stars actually any good? I remember seeing it at Blockbuster but never got around to renting it. I don't think I know anyone who played it.

The only real entertainment you could get out of it is to read all the dialogue in Tommy Wiseau's voice.

For me its Tecmo Secret of the Stars: A Fantasy

>Tecmo Secret of the Stars: A Fantasy

It bombed, but has picked up a cult status the past several years I've noticed.

I wonder if there was some bean counter forcing these packaging changes to justify their job. Nobody could possibly think the right is better artwork.

Not that left is any better, it is better in concept but execution is just as bad as the right one.

Wait I'm retarded. I seriously thought this was a box art comparison and they were the same game.

You have a point though, should have went for a more anime look instead of westernized.

Oh shit, is that from the playthrough I did on here like 5 years ago?

There was no such thing as anime in the 90s

Incorrect. Localizers didn't think it would appeal to us in the west, hence the point of the post.

It's like you made this thread for a debate happening in the back of my mind, untouched by all the other neuron connections for:
"Which of these obscure weird games did you think was weirder?"
I think Dual Orb 2 wins that debate. There was a weird difficulty spike, and didn't that one Saladin (or whatever his name was, he had a white robe) guy fight with flutes? Where as Secret of the Stars is kind of just an RPG ripped down to it's base level.

Still better than Xenogears.
