Based. Too bad the series didn't survive to get a PS2 sequel.

>> No.7412783

What did you guys think of the sequel and the third game on PSX

>> No.7412792

It's a better game but it was far too ahead of its time. It took after this almost 15 years for other devs to figure first-person platforming (by adding parkour elements). It's also as much a mecha game as a platformer, with the shooting, tank control,... A bit too complicated for kids compared to something "simple" like Mario.
It's a fantastic game, but a dead end for the genre, so we should at least be glad it got two sequels.
What a shame Sony killed Sugar & Rockets, this company is a shell of what it used to be.

that's not what you complained about though

anyway tanks can't strafe either

>> No.7413045

I recently revisited this after not having played it since it came out.
It honestly kind of pissed me off that this game perfected first person platforming and no dev since has followed suit.
This should have been Valve’s bible when they were making Xen in Half Life.

tank controls doesn't literally mean a tank, you autist. also Croc has tank controls but lets you sidestep, making it superior to OP's trash.

The game it's a successor to actually was a mech game

>> No.7413275

it's cool but more like an oddity than some kind of must-play title

The game looks fun, and I do want to buy it, AND I also think the graphics are charming as they remind me of enhanced Star Fox SNES graphics, but to say the graphics are "better" than SM64 is just pure bait.

The turning needed a faster mode with a button or a setting. Otherwise a fantastic original game.

x68k could have been bigger if the japs tried to market it in america, it was at least as good as an amiga
