Collecting is literally one of the most degenerate and disgusting habits you can have. Imagine spending money just to fill your house with rotting plastic that has finger grease and cheeto breath all over it, with the side bonus of preventing you from having sex. Meanwhile you could just spend $800, build a PC that will last you for the next 10 years and emulate 99% of all games ever made, for free, with high fps, resolution and other features. If you want to buy a console and a handful of games to relive a nostalgic period of your life or introduce your child to games you enjoyed as a kid, sure, there's nothing wrong with that... but "collecting" is a disease and there is no logical justification for it.

I swear there were chink-pressed ps1 games in the 90's that worked without a modchip. And action replay discs weren't legit but they were able to boot on the ps2. Seems like a lost art.

More and more people are settling with just having the console, a CRT, and a flashcart/hardmod/softmod because game collecting is just not worth it under any circumstance anymore. This is how it is for me and for any consoles that die I'll just be emulating them until I can get them fixed.
