Is older game music just better because they had better inspiration to choose from them? I know its been said a million times but MJ's funky upbeat music was the perfect inspiration for games like sonic, and metal/grunge was a huge source for games like DOOM

Who wants to be inspired by rap and soundcloud for their game soundtrack?

music has not gotten worse, pop music has always been bad. if you pay attention to the music scene below the surface music is always evolving and becoming more technical and involved, music doesnt get worse its just whats popular. game music has stayed relatively samey, with the peaks being stuff like battle garegga and unreal tournament and streets of rage 2, games that actually took influence from non pop genres like house and drum and bass.

No. 100% false. Metal and grunge were not only polar opposites, they were practically enemies.

The reason older video game music was better is because musicians (in general) used to have more training and technical skill. That has utterly collapsed in recent decades.

nirvana isnt shitty, and dicksucking japan doesn't make you look smart to anybody actually into music faggot. nirvana purposely were DIY, its a fluke that they blew up, and returned to a purer form with in utero. knowing your type however you probably have not bothered to listen to it and instead just dickride japs for everything.

Nirvana IS complete shit though. It was badly played buttrock that tricked faggots into thinking it was "deep" and DIY, which was a lie since the grunge scene was a creation of recording company execs. No style and no substance, Kurt Cobain should have shot himself, his wife and the rest of the band in 1987.

>> No.7375592

>>7375585
it literally was deep to some extent, maybe not nevermind but in utero is hard to listen to because of what came directly after it's release. i doubt steve albini would help produce something if it was as soulless as you are trying to make it out to be faggot. take some time and learn music history and then come back and try to sound smart on something faggot.

exactly right. nobody is inspired by that shit because it's written by talentless nobodies that only have the ability to take pre-recorded samples and sequence 808 drum patterns.
