The Sly trilogy is based, and 3 is my favorite. I actually liked the insane amount of gameplay variety, and the maps (Venice, Australian Outback, South Holland, Kunlun Mountains, Carribean) were better than 2 in my opinion.

Wrong way around. 1 is the only decent one (by virtue of it being a clone of a good game), 2 and 3 are bloated garbage. 1 is all about the platforming, with a few minigames for variety. 2 and 3 are crammed with tedious shit and hours of unskippable cutscenes between a talking raccoon, turtle and hippo. I don't know how anyone over the age of 5 could sit through that without being bored out of their minds.

definitely the weakest one in the series, but still fun. Also i think Ubisoft used these games as inspiration for their Asscreed games, specially the third game, not just the parkour elements but the story as well.
I barely talk about this series online cause all it does is summons furfags and flood the area with filth, or you get accused of being a furfag, it's a shame, they're pretty fun series, just an awful fanbase.
The first game is still the best, imo, I like that formula better

The parkour elements were just an iteration of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time by the same creator.

It can be jarring going from playing a single character in traditional 3D platformer based levels, to playing 8 characters with gimmicks in every other level. Quite amazingly though, there's not a single gimmick level in Sly 3 that I dread replaying. My real problem is the absence of clue bottles.

just like Jak&Daxter, the only truely good Sly games was the first one.

Sly 1 felt, in a way, like a modern Donkey Kong Country, with mostly 1-hit kills and a focus on linear platforming stages. Not saying the game was hard, but it laid a great foundation for sequels to build off of.

2 tried to be an open-world, actual stealth game type thing, which isnt a bad idea, but the entire open area was just a glorified hub world to smaller minigames and a couple of still linear stages like the first game, which was good they still stayed in some capacity.

3 was really gimmicky with a lot of its characters and boss fights. Kind of just felt like a cluster fuck of ideas thrown together, yet I still feel like I enjoyed it more then 2. Probably there was more I am forgetting about, but the final gauntlet run before the last boss was closest I remember to the feel of the first game.

Never played the PS3 one so I cant comment, but from what I seen, it looks like it follows the same hub-world aspect of later 2

tl;dr- even though he is a thief, game should have stuck with being a platformer rather then a wanna-be-stealth game for kids

Absolutely wrong, the first Sly 1 while a good game was extremely derivative, not saying this is always a bad thing but Sly1 offered very little ideas to the table, everything it did was done better in other games, like the first Jak. Sly 2 felt like the game the devs really wanted to make and really expanded the idea of being a thief, the moment to moment gameplay isn't as good, but overall it did everything it set out to do extremely well.

There are already the original games on PS2 and the remastered trilogy on PS3 & Vita. You can buy a PS3 for $50, softmod it and load the trilogy on in an afternoon. There's no reason for the same games to be remastered over and over every new gen when there are older versions that play fine and are easily accessible.
