Hes hands down the best character in the game, no contest. Bitch has like 200 more hp then everyone else, can't die, and has really high attack. In a game where magic is useless, high physical attack and not being able to die is godlike. He also has a 100% counter rate when in a certain formation, so theres no reason not to use him.

I used Garnet for most of the game and she was easily the weakest member. I'd say the best party formation for general play is Zidane/Steiner/Amarant/Quina.

Zidane because you have to have him, plus Steal, Annoy and Soul Blade are all great shit. Steiner for just straight up attack and defense; when I reached the final battle he was doing 9999 every hit in Trance. Amarant because his abilities are amazing (seriously, he has Aura, No Mercy, Revive and Chakra, Chakra is so OP its not funny) and his attack is no slouch either. Quina because her Blue Magic is a perfect mix of offense and defense, and she ends up being a better healer than Eiko or Garnet. Mighty Guard is way worth it compared to manually Protecting/Shelling everyone (plus it just doesn't last long enough doing it one at a time).

Vivi and Freya are useful too but I find they're more situational. Eiko and Garnet have places in non-normal runs like the other poster said. Eiko is very useful if you want to do a level 1 Ozma run. You just don't need them if you're playing normally

The only thing weaker than Lise is a no-strength Hawke.

First class change matters a lot, second class change only affects the last section of the game.

There's one thing you didn't consider, though, Duran has a slow as shit cooldown, while Hawke is both fast AND attacks twice in a single turn, meaning you'll be constantly dishing out damage vs a few powerful blows.

I fail to understand how Lise could be weaker than Angela or fucking Carlie, though.

All the one-hit characters have exactly the same cooldown between attacks. The cooldown time is not affected by class or stats, it's completely fixed. The two-hit characters (Hawk and Kevin) sometimes have the same cooldown as the one-hit characters, and sometimes have *no* cooldown at all. I'm not sure exactly what triggers them to be able to attack again with no cooldown, but it happens often enough that overall they both "feel" much faster and inflict much more DPS than the one-hit characters even before you add Kevin's crazy werewolf strength.
