Just emulate it, no reason to coomlect old plastic.
I also heard that some gamecube games are already getting hard to find any working copies of due to bad disc manufacturing processes.

If you aren't emotionally attached to the cube itself buy a wii, usb hard drive, sd card, and a set of cheap component cables

If you are nostalgic for the cube itself buy one, just ignore the hassle and go for s-video, and buy one of those new fangled kits that pairs a Swiss mini dvd with one of those serial port flushmounted microsd adapters

Don't even bother with trying to pick up mini dvds anymore, you will only encounter pain

there is no reason to buy authentic gamecube games anymore since normalfags flooded the market last year.

Here is a tip: don't. Its a piece of shit kiddie console with one good game on it.

>> No.7369987

Don't, games are $50 a piece, component cables are $300 (if you can even find them on sale lmoa) and the controller's c-stick tends to self destruct after a year of use. Get a wii, mod that shit, buy official component cables for $20 and either a meme crt or those retrosomething upscalers, don't buy a GC controller btw, the classic pro is much better and iirc nintendont lets you use pretty much every controller out there, my dualshock 4 works on it.

Don’t listen to a faggot like this. While it’s true that, yes, the Wii is a better GC, it’s still a soulless experience. How can anyone actually talk down on buying a used Wii, soft modding it, and having it be a powerful all-in-one retrobox? I mean, if you have a CRT. If you have no CRT, there's definitely better options but for its component out and native 240p powers, it's by far the cheapest and best way to get RGB-out(Y-Pb-Pr) onto a CRT(20inch Trinitron Wega here). And for Gamecube, it's STILL the best even for output on an LCD, because unlike with Dolphin, there's no settings that need messing with. It'll natively play any GC game you want, forcing Progressive Scan for every title, without having to worry about drivers, GPU settings, etc.

There's no argument against it unless you're just being asinine.

The only reasons to buy one relative to a Wii are the GBA player, the GC bios interface, the better picture quality (which you're only going to fully unlock with component cables of which even homebrew ones are going to set you back close to $100 which is crazy for video cables), and arguably more aesthetic shelf candy. For most purposes a Wii (or more specifically that model of Wii with supposedly better picture quality) plus Nintendo component cables is good enough for playing Gamecube games.

Supply and demand
These cables were a meme for nearly 2 decades because the converters necessary for them couldn't be replicated until 2019

Even in 2014/15 they were about $80 which was considered memeishly high for anything retro gaming related that wasn't an absolute commercial flop.

Which these cables were new anyway, considering hdtvs weren't common yet and anyone with a fancy projection set would either need to order a set online or over the phone because they weren't sold in stores in the united states.

>>7370501
Yeah, I think people have gone full oscilloscope measurements to show that the Gamecube has clearer component output than the Wii, but even still, unless you are a hardcore Gamecube fan, you're probably better off buying a Wii from Goodwill for like $20-$25 and component cables for whatever they go for now (I found two sets at my local Goodwill for a few bucks each, just mixed in the bin for all Wii video cables).

The Wii 480p output has been "fixed". Just make sure you're using the latest Nintendont release with the patch. https://www.retrorgb.com/wii-480p-video-bug-discovered.html https://github.com/FIX94/Nintendont/issues/665

People played their Wiis. Gamecubes weren't used so much so there's less wear on the system. In addition, people didn't play the games much so the average quality of disks is much higher. Finally, Gamecube Controllers go for $30 or more so you might get a deal on one if it comes with controllers. Even if you did get a Wii, a Wii needs GC controllers too.

>People played their Wiis. Gamecubes weren't used so much so there's less wear on the system.
Wrong. There are lots of Wii consoles that were purchased by elderly people, used for a short while to play Wii Sports with their grandchildren, and have since been sitting in cupboard for over a decade. It's not difficult to find one boxed in near perfect condition for less than $50.
>In addition, people didn't play the games much so the average quality of disks is much higher.
Even if this was true, which it's not, it's irrelevant once you softmod the console.
>Finally, Gamecube Controllers go for $30 or more so you might get a deal on one if it comes with controllers.
Irrelevant. You're still paying for the controller. You might save $10 compared to the standalone price of a GameCube console and controller, but you'll still be paying more for the GameCube console than a Wii console, so the total price will be higher.
>Even if you did get a Wii, a Wii needs GC controllers too.
Wrong, softmodded Wii can use the Classic Controller for GCN games.

you can configure bootmii to boot to the homebrew channel and at least skip looking at the wii menu and using a wii remote. then if you use IPL dumps from a gamecube, you can have nintendont show the gamecube's menu whenever you boot a game.

Yeah: fucking don't. Buy a Wii instead and hack it and download the Gamecube's whole library on a USB drive. The Wii itself will be insanely cheap as there are probably still elderly boomers who bought it for Wii Sports who will part with it for less than 70 bucks.

And the Gamecube library is absurdly inflated in price. Even the best selling game on the entire system that has the most copies printed is expensive. Downloading them for free is the morally correct thing to do, Smash Bros Melee should be fucking 5-8 dollars disc only and maybe 15 with only the manual or case. A CIB should be no more than 50.
