true the PS1 has an interesting aesthetic to it where it's practical but not to the point where it becomes ugly, essentially shedding most of the remaining Toy veneer that most of the major home consoles had been wearing since the Famicom/NES

Fat PS2 is fine for a repurposed unused Atari computer case design, and both the Slim PS1 and Slim PS2 are also respectable reductions of their more chunky original kin, though I do agree that the PS3 is pretty ugly, and the PS4 is okay in a unremarkable way, PS5 is too new to definitively establish opinions on but it's certainly unique

The Q has a big flaw though. It uses a full size DVD tray and there's no real protection for the smaller Gamecube discs. And it's built in such a way that if something jostles the system the disc can get lodged inside the machine and require disassembling the thing to get it out.

Heat dissipation. The Dreamcast is the first system with an actual fan as far as I know and it was loud as shit. These things have been built to battle heat ever since because when they fuck up that part it's catastrophic (Xbox 360).

I think that's actually what's slowly happening. Microsoft isn't even really delineating between their machines anymore. They're just releasing games for "Xbox" and selling different hardware configurations for that purpose. "Xbox One X" "Xbox Series X" and "Xbox Series S" all seem to function like PC builds with somewhat different specs.
