Sega no doubt. They put their heart into it

I don't give a fuck about JRPG though.

It's not a matter of who did it better.
It's s matter of us the costumers getting a lot of great ones out of them going at each other's throat.
That's why this was the only honest to God console war. Everything else has been a massacre of a single console governing, everyone keeping complacent and no one pushing the envelope.

>> No.7364221

Depends on gameplay and story
for gameplay: Nintendo
for story: Sega

>JRPGs
How is this a question? SEGA's jarpigs were mostly developed in-house / by their own teams, sometimes with some assistance from 3rd parties. Nintendo's jarpigs are mostly developed by independent companies with minor assistance from Nintendo themselves, for the most part they just publish them.

>Mario RPG
Squaresoft
>Pokemon
GameFreak, also the co-owner of the franchise
>Earthbound
HAL Laboratory, closely affiliated with Nintendo, but still independent IIRC
>Mario & Luigi
AlphaDream, went bankrupt not too long ago
>Golden Sun
Camelot, funnily enough they started off as part of SEGA back in the Shining Force days
>Baten Kaitos
Monolith back when Namco owned them

SNES had Super Mario RPG and Chrono Trigger. These were the best JRPGs of the generation.

However, the Mega Drive JRPGs were better than everything else. I'd rather play Shining Force, Landstalker, The Story of Thor or the later Phantasy Stars over Final Fantasy VI.

Oh, and fuck Earthbound.

Genesis RPGs were too ugly. Final Fantasy 6 & Breath of Fire > Phantasy Star

Nintendo. Sega never made an action-RPG as good as Link to the Past.

Are you talking about SNES vs Genesis(Mega Drive)? Or Sega Vs Nintendo in general? Old School Sega has Phantasy Star, Shining Force, those other shining games, Panzer Dragoon Saga, Sakura Wars, Skies of Arcadia, Yakuza plays like an RPG and Shenmue is one. Plus Sega produced/ published a number of third party RPG games.

>> No.7366250

Phantasy Star IV is the only JRPG Sega ever made that was worth playing.

>> No.7367909

Sega made better RPGs than Nintendo.

I can’t really even think of any RPGs Nintendo themselves made.

>> No.7367927

>>7364083
if you're asking which one made worse videogames, obviously nintendo, because they had mario rpg and funal fantasy

sega in contrast did not produce jrpgs and instead produced actual games

>> No.7367943

>>7364083
Do action RPGs count as JRPGs?

>> No.7367979

>>7364116
Their third-parties did. Their only JRPGs IPs were Fire Emblem (which is more of a strategy RPG) and Zelda (which is debatable)
