Does anyone know if these things are known to not play nice with one another?

Over the course of two days, my copy of pokemon yellow and pokemon silver had their data wiped after getting some kind of error screen about there being a problem with the connectors or something along those lines. I didn't think to take a picture.

Some have said it could be the internal battery but these were supposed to have relatively new batteries and i've not been able to replicate whatever caused the data loss in the first place, four days later and they still have their saves. Silver isn't asking me to reset the clock constantly.

I considered sending these things to have their batteries replaced but if this is an issue with everdrives and transfer paks not co-operating i'd rather not waste my money.

I only have two actual game cartridges with no intention of buying more. Everything else is on a flash cart. I'm not gonna buy a soldering iron and a bunch of batteries for something i'll use maybe three times in my lifetime.

This is the exact error screen I got before yellow's data was wiped. I was playing it on a gameboy minutes before, and have been able to save since, so it's hard to imagine it's the battery.

I don't recall what the error screen on Stadium 2 was when it wiped my copy of Silver the very next day, but I think it was something along the lines of "this cartridge is not usable" and I had to adjust the cartridge and the transfer pak several times between restarts for it to recognize the game, only to tell me there was no save data.

Does a little dust really completely wipe save data?

It can if it means the cart doesn't have a solid connection during data access.

Don't do this kids, it creates mustard gas!

It's just extremely finnicky because there are 2 points of failure: gameboy cart to adapter, and adapter to controller.

Of course not. The data disappears randomly for no reason at all.

Mine works just fine. I use it to play pokemon crystal now and then. I trade and even play the stadium battles in two with no problem.

Seems weird that it would erase two game packs in two days if it's something that happens at random, but i've not had it happen again since, so who knows

I haven't been here since they started allowing sixth gen discussion, I just popped in to ask about this because I thought /vr/ might know their shit, but hasn't it always been like this?
