I got to play that Psychic Assassin game for a short period of time at a convention and it was pretty fun, but as far as stuff that is more accessible and unique to the hardware, probably something like Virtual-On or Guardian Heroes

Hm. "Best" doesn't mean "definitive", or "signature" game as far as I'm concerned.

Look at N64's original tagline for example: The Fun Machine. This statement was actually proven and demonstrated with Super Mario 64.

Saturn was called "The Ultimate Gaming System" at launch. Shenmue would have qualified as a game-as-proof example of this statement, however as we all know it got pushed back to the Dreamcast.

So...the Saturn did not have a signature game. This helps explain part of the reason it failed, in my opinion.

My favorite Saturn game is still Sega Rally. It just nails the perfect arcade driving style.

Fun fact, it was the first driving game to model different traction levels for different terrain types, which impressed Codemasters so much that they decided to create a Rally sim. The game they made was the first Colin McRae Rally.

Just a console and a controller? Probably around 80-100 dollars. Right now all retro games are a bit inflated so expect to shell out 90. Ebay is reasonably reliable, I got my saturn there years ago. I would also try FB Marketplace or Craigslist if you need help finding a system.

I'd honestly suggest getting a Pseudosaturn cart to let you play burned games and backups. I prefer the all in one karts than the mods myself but that is just me.

Satiator and mode are both better. You don't have to pull out your disk drive with the satiator. Personally I'd just fix the laser. You can still buy them brand new from here.

I setup a emulator to play this. What a disappointment. The gameplay really isn't very good.

The graphics are amazing, I love the flat colour textures that signal that era, the controls are great, the ability to switch between mech and ship is cool as fuck and the music that rips of Michael Jackson is pretty funny but the gameplay is just a bummer.

The enemies are basically no threat at all. Your never really getting attacked. The bosses are a joke. And you don't even HAVE to kill enemies you can just float right on past them and head straight to the target. While they fire little pea shots at you. What a shame.

Haven't played this but I HAVE played Wonder Project J2 by the same devs and can confirm, one of the most soulful games ever. Would've been a masterpiece if it were on PS1 or Saturn but no, they decided to put it on N64 so the sound quality is garbage and the beautiful 2D graphics look like they got smeared in vaseline.

I just got one of these last night for free. I have about 20 saturn games and 10 genesis games.
Never intended to own this system but couldn't pass up the opportunity.
How's the piracy? Also wtf I never knew this could play genesis stuff.

I now have the opportunity to buy a Satiator. Is it worth it? Does it work well? I'd like to sell off complete Japanese set of games (backing them up before that and use the backups with the Satiator)
