I haven't tried to emulate any N64 games for about 4 years now. What is the current state of N64 emulation? Is it still a shitshow?

>> No.7320507

it's still all hacky HLE, always will be, those SGI chips are just funky

>> No.7320545

>>7320498
Not a total shitshow but it's improved ever so slightly.

You should definitely check out ParaLLEl on Retroarch and try out the Angrylion renderer. It will bring your CPU to its knees and probably won't run most games at full speed but it's the most accurate N64 emulation we've ever gotten.

>>7320545
that's as useful as MAME's n64 emulation, accurate but you cant play at anything but 10 frames a week

No, it was completely saved by Retroarch using Vulkan for Mupen64PlusNext with Parallel RDP+RSP.

Even if it is true I'm trying to assess why the fuck it actually is important when in my experience the games all run fine and look fine. The best N64 emulation has been in years, what is there to sperg so hard about?

It's impressive how this board is full of absolute brainlets or blatant disinfo faggots.
I've been playing n64 games ever since the new parallel came out and I have not come across any bugs, just finished paper mario2 hours ago.
So yeah, it's much better than you remember.

i can't be arsed to change either, i still used epsxe and project 64 and both play great, easy to set up and i can play on my 50 inch screen plugged to my pc at 4k resolution. So whats the point to get into retroarch or mednafen?

never had anything that was noticeable, some of this games run like shit on original hardware and their sound is really compressed so most of the times there's only improvement of at least having consistent frame rate.

I've had an n64 emulator on android for years already, had some problems with majora's mask a few times I think but I got some other emulator and it worked fine after that.

Didn't know it was a shit show. Is op referring to PC or something?

>> No.7321414

Mupen64-Plus with the ParraLLEl RDP and RSP plugins and Synchronous RDP set to on is pretty damn good.
Even Conker's Bad Fur Day is good, granted I do have a Ryzen 5800X, but it still runs way better than the standalone ParaLLEl core. https://youtu.be/XCA6hADSlH4
Can even make it run at a stable 30fps, though that option will break some games.

is tranny autism about muh miliseconds alleged input lag and muh programming jargon nonsense no one care about when playing a game. Even a pentium 4 from 15 years ago was emulating this shit fine, this games are old and not a big deal to play.
