Have any games ever gone down in price? I’m kicking myself for not buying Silent Hill games when they were $20-$40.

Bro just buy the game and flip it when you’re done, you can even make a little profit if you do it right. Why do you need a gay collection

I replay games a lot. You can’t get rid of serious classics. You think I’m ever selling Mario World, RE2 or Madden 01? No and neither should you.

Back then we would just copy games on CD-Rs and boast about our collection of CD-Rs. Burning games is the true retro way. If you want to experience games like we actually did in the 90s, don't buy them.

Never. All those games I picked up for a buck originally retailed for fifty cents.

Why you want to buy old games ?
You not supporting anything related to the game.
Your money will not go to the people that made the game.
You will not expect anything in return in future in terms of similar games. Quite the opposite: your money will be used to make modern games full of micro transactions or to build pachinko machines.

that wasn't very common in america, i think only fat weirdos larping as hackers did that in USA back then. I remember travelling there and whenever i talked to american kids about games their reaction was always "woah , your family must be super rich back in your country". Same with music, i remember recommending some older kid some music and when i showed him my first gen ipod and he fucking flipped because for him i had the equivalent thousands of dollars in music albums. They were scared shitless of pirating stuff and didn't even knew it could be done sometimes.

I bough all my psx games for like 1$ because they were all burned cds from street vendors and obviously pirated all my music downloading entire discographies at a time. The true "non american" way.

Interesting, waiting for US-Anons to chime in.

>mfw I didn't even buy pirated games because I was the one who sold them lol, for the equivalent of 5 euros per game

Not retro, but Yakuza 3 is now about half the price it was a couple of years ago, since it got rereleased on PS4 (previously PS3 exclusive). I think Rez also used to be a fair bit more expensive before all the rereleases. There are quite a lot of old shmups that have been rereleased on the switch, so maybe those went down in price?

Basically, if a game gets rereleased and the rerelease is equal to or an improvement over the original (so, not Silent Hill HD), the original release will likely become cheaper. Especially true if the rerelease is physical - digital rereleases won't suffice for coomlectors, which is why people still pay $100 for a copy of God Hand when you can buy the download on PS3 for $10.

Earthbound and Conker are down a bit IIRC. Best bet is to just get an xstation or a mod chip and CD-Rs if you want to play the game.

It would be interesting, i think here is most likely to find the fat techie ones who were not scared to pirate stuff from, i think even the ones that did this weren't likely to admit it out loud back then as they are so prissy about being seen as poor or cheap over there.

Which country?, thats kinda pricey

Why would they come down in price? Because no, they haven’t, and no, they won’t.

People buy older games as a “fuck you” to modern developers. It’s more about NOT supporting the retards making nu-games, than anything else. Retro gaming is only actually popular because new games blow. The only thing that would truly save the future of gaming at this point would be a world war which wiped out every major game company.

France. But the blank CD-Rs were very expensive here, typically around €2 per disc (the good ones, i.e. Verbatim or TDK).

If it took you this long to get around to buying Silent Hill games, you're zoomer shit. I've owned all the games for at least a decade and I was late to the party, picking them up at Gamestop right before they stopped selling PS2 games. They didn't even have SH3 on the shelf because they were getting ready to liquidate.
