I've been emulating on the PC and PSP for years. But when I finally got bored of that, I was ready to try something new. I already owned original hardware and games to go with it physically, but for some reason, I never break out one of my old consoles and play with it because of the emulators I use instead.

I do own a CRT TV to play these consoles on. But I did want an HDMI option. So I debated on whether or not I should buy a clone console or an HDMI converter.

I thought about the MiSTer, but I had a PC to emulate games with, so it was unnecessary. There were several clone consoles, but most of them were either based on the SNES or Sega Genesis, the FPGA ones were overpriced. What would be the point of getting either one when I owned the original hardware?

So I decided to get an HDMI converter and that seems to be the best route. I got one for each system I owned, except for the NES, SNES and N64. I went with a S-Video to HDMI converter for those systems. Just like I bought a Carby for my Gamecube. All in all, it worked out well for me.

So what about you guys? Do you go for an HDMI solution or do you go for FPGA Devices/Clone Consoles?

I’m in a similar position. I have original hardware but the controllers are starting to wear and I have no crt. The fpga systems can use my Switch SNES controllers with a receiver but that’s quite expensive. It’s a good thing these fgpa systems are discontinued I probably would have bit the bullet for the convenience of using my controllers

You can always buy new controllers, there are even wireless options now. I bought a wireless Sega Saturn controller, which is absolutely perfect. You might be able to score a free CRT TV on Facebook. Which is how I managed to get a 36 inch Sony Trinitron.

It's not "supposed to be more accurate", it's completely indistinguishable from hardware. It's the holy grail, as good as hardware. It just royally pisses some original hardware fags off because they can't look down on people and say they're not experiencing the real game, just ignore them.

its not completely as good as hw i saw there was some issues some anon was posting about with the mega sg, its almost as good as hw, I assume theres still stuff gotten wrong in the reverse engineering of the hw which leads to innacuracies. They are cool though can wait until the mister can support the ps1
