the ps2 is, not only for its catalogue but its backward compatibility with the psx. It was just too complete when you take that into account.

Obvious bait but NO. God no. The highly bottlenecked and terribly designed SNES hardware was simply incapable of many kinds of games, it was completely outclassed in virtually every genre by other 16-bit hardware. It runs at a mere 1/3rd the speed of all it's competitors, including the Mega Drive, PC Engine, and even the Amiga, despite all predating it by years. It's easily the bottom tier of all the non-meme 16-bit options, easily far worse in terms of game libraries than the Mega Drive, PC Engine, Neo Geo, and if we're including computers, the X68000 and Amiga. It has exactly 0% chance of being the best because it is not even good.
>>7292145
>muh MARIO
>muh ZELDA
Nintendrones truly have nothing else to play. Castlevania is vastly better on the Mega Drive, PC Engine, and X68000, Street Fighter is vastly better on the Mega Drive, PC Engine, and X68000, and Bomberman is vastly better on the Mega Drive, PC Engine, X68000, and even the Amiga.

SNES was godly for its time. Most of its best games became obsolete by their sequels except for Super Metroid and megaman x. Still a great console though, it was the curtain call for spritework on home consoles.

If you don't play shit for children, that is, Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Donkey Kong, then no, it absolutely does not have the catalogue. Just like all the Nintendo cultist's consoles, the shit SNES relies nearly exclusively on those overrated and ultimately quite poor Nintendo IPs. The only difference is it also has a lot of shitty JRPGs by Square, games which would be far surpassed and truly come to maturity by their iterations on the PS1.

https://hackaday.com/2015/11/06/winning-the-console-wars-an-in-depth-architectural-study/

>In the 68000, each instruction requires at least eight clock cycles to complete, whereas the 65C816 – like it’s younger 6502 brother – could execute an instruction every two or three clock cycles. This means the Sega could handle around 900,000 instructions per second, maximum. The SNES could compute around 1.7 Million instructions per second, despite it’s lower clock speed.

>Even though the Sega console has a faster clock, it performs fewer instructions per second.

Categorically incorrect, easily disproven, and a massive cope for nintendrones.
http://oldwww.nvg.ntnu.no/amiga/MC680x0_Sections/mc68000timing.HTML
http://6502.org/tutorials/65c816opcodes.html
The 65C816 instructions that execute in 2 or 3 clock cycles are extremely basic actions, such as flipping a flag or switching processor modes. Actually useful instructions, such as moving data around or maths, requires instructions that take closer to 6 to 8 clocks. The 68000 could do maths and data pushing operations in as little as 4 clocks, typically slightly more. So no, the shit SNES is at exactly zero advantage here, it really is a mere 1/3rd the speed, practically speaking, of it's major competitor.

It killed their childish hopes and dreams of Sega ever becoming relevant again so in a way they did.

Do you know how expensive those shitty add ons for the genesis were? they probably nagged their parents to waste their money on useless garbage and then had to see snes kids being the happiest with some of the best games ever on the snes console.

The saturn costed 400$, FOUR.HUNDRED. DOLLARS for a shitty nogames console, while the n64 costed 250$ and the psx costed 300$. So imagine the rage and resentment of the stupid kid who could only pick one console for the entire gen and he chose the worst and most expensive one based on dumb brainwashing ad campaigns by sega. That kid is seething to this day, in denial of this existencial mistake, he deprived his own childhood and shitting on nintendo and the sonic is the only he can cope instead of accepting what he did and blame Sega for scamming him, not only with the addons, the saturn but then again with the dreamcast, a console that died within a single year.

i prefer the genesis for its action games, fighters, and shmups. the SNES just couldnt push sprites fast enough, outside of standout titles like axelay
and i prefer the SNES for its J/ARPGs, as well as its exclusives like metroid/zelda/mario etc
