>most of the best C64 games are NTSC ones
>the C64 online community is 80% Euros and their crummy demoscene non-games
That sucks.

>> No.7291917

Just where are these great NTSC games? Most of them are just spreadsheets and interactive storybooks. Where's your Creatures or Jack the Nipper?

>> No.7292024

Bard's Tale is more of an actual game than Jack The Nipper. Just Saiyan.

Based on my experience most of them are a bad tech demo thing that poorly copies some Japanese arcade/console game.

One hundred games and only 37 of those are PAL. And this list was mostly voted on by European guys.

Many pal c64 games run better on an ntsc machine if they work, smoother and more responsive. Too bad bad you have to replace a chip and other things to switch regions.

>>7292047
I think pal games that made an inpact could be micromachines and turrican which lead to codemasters and euroshooters then in the us the biggest legacy could epyx and sim city as well as ea

New to the Commodore 64. Bought the lot mainly for the monitor, but got 3 Commodores with it. One doesn't work, One works, albeit with characters flickering and anytime I use the keyboard, the characters placed on screen are the ones you would get if you held down the shift key, but I am not doing so. The Commodore pictured was apparently an extra as the lot only pictured 2. Ironically enough, even though the case is in really rough shape, is missing the key next to the pound sign, and initially didn't power on, I just replaced the fuse and it powers on and all the keys work fine.
Problem is, as I am new to this system, I am not quite sure if the cable I have is a composite cable with stereo RCA jacks, or if the cable I have is actually the "Commodore Video" (S-Video) cable. Problem is, when I plug in all of the cables into their color respective spots in the back, I get no picture, but when I plug in the video, (or maybe chrominance) cable into the front, I get image pictured. It looks like there may have been some previous damage to the jack on the back, and I have opened and worked on a CRT before, but never repaired a non functional jack, so if y'all have any tips. Let me know. Picture of the back incoming.

>> No.7295448

>>7295423
Also make sure your plugs are marked properly and do not plug the sound into the video input on the monitor because the SID won't like that very much. And don't hot plug the cables, it won't like that either.

Okay, I am pretty sure I answered one of my own questions, as when I try to chance the colors with the Commodore Key and a number, I get varying degrees of black and white, and I know it's supposed to change font color, and I think the background is supposed to be blue. Well, having it plugged in this way is a good workaround to get a picture.

As for the back, what do you guys think? Maybe someone ripped out the back jack and hot glued this weird backing then replaced it with a different colored jack? If that's the case, what can I do to restore S-Video to this 1702?
Besides the back, and me needing to get a power button 3-D printed for it, this monitor is in excellent shape.

>>7295448
Thank you for your advice bro, any other advice? I know about the power supplies reking these as well, but for now, I just plugged in the shittiest condition, but working, one to test things out. I will get a power saver and a disk drive later on.

>>7295451

I am a dumbfuck. I took it for granted there was a button to switch in between inputs, not accounting for the sets age, and I literally didn't notice the switch for the back input, right under the RCA jacks. 0_o At any rate, there seems to be a big color purity issue on the side. Are there pots in the 1702 for color purity, or purity rings, or do I just have to use convergence strips to keep the color in check? Yes I know convergence strips are mainly used for convergence, but when I put a magnet near the color purity issue on the side, it mostly disappears.
