By the way, I played through Driving Emotion Type-S. Please give me more soulful shitty jap racers with cockpit views.
By the way it's funny how it released SO EARLY in the PS2 lifecycle that the EA-Porsche contract wasn't still in effect so it has a Porsche 911 GT3.

Pretty kino for a ps1 game. 20 vehicles on at the same time, different wheather, snow/rain/cloudy/sunny etc. Obviously car selection was tiny but they were all memorable none the less.
2 blew it out of the water but 1 was still a solid racer.

Do earlier Initial D arcades make the cut? The first ones were relesed during 6th gen, and the last one to ever get an english translation is Stage 4 (2006). If they are retro enough it would be nice to talk about them, since they have a different take on drifting than other games.
They all run perfectly with TeknoParrot, even the last ones. Makes sense since SEGA's arcades are literally gaming PCs running Windows 10 and steamworks for multiplayer. TeknoParrot can be a bitch to set up, but there are some repackers that provide ready-to-go versions. I could link one of them if anyone wants

I always had trouble playing Midnight Club 3 using Xbox 360 BC, it would always hard freeze when trying to load certain tournaments. I thought it was a bad dump because I hunted down a physical disc and that worked fine no problem. Yesterday I came across a patch that fixed this crash. Apparently it's because some of the filenames were too long causing the crash, so this patch renamed some of the tournament files along with a modified .xbe that looks up those renamed files instead.

I know it was never part of the official BC compatibility list, but I'm not sure if the compatibility patch for JTAG/RGH is absolutely required. Yes it's playable, it has slowdowns but it's bearable if PCSX2 doesn't work well for you or if you prefer Xbox's slightly better graphics. Honestly the BC flawed framerate could have been ok but there's a bug where frame drops actually slow down the game speed.

I've played far too much destruction 1, 2 and raw over the years. I've got a soft spot for 2 due to its thrash OST (Jug never did anything else and iirc Tuscan are even more obscure) but the a.i cheats like a motherfucker. Wreckfest is almost the true sequel to it but clearly draws upon its flatout roots which is inspired by both destruction derby 1 and 2 the actual finnish folk racing scene. DD1 is basically UK banger racing with a thumping soundtrack whereas 2 was explicitly designed to be more american.

Yeah, somehow they gave the Tibet track the best visuals but also the best song of the entire game. That's why i actually just play the Demo version (and removed the Lance Boyle videos to save space). I just can't stand the other tracks, they're so dark and industrial and the music is worse too.

Has anyone played Daytona USA Deluxe? It's a Windows-only enhanced version of Daytona USA, Daytona USA: Championship Circuit Edition and Daytona USA Circuit Edition. A problem I'm having with these SEGA PC ports isn't performance, but rather resolution. I can't seem to apply GPU-forced anti-aliasing, resolution scaling, etc. to these at all. It's like it exists outside of time and space when it runs. The game also forces itself into fullscreen 480p which stretches to fit my 1080 monitor. My printscreen app is still giving me 480p screenshots so I know that the resolution isn't being scaled. I just want to play it at the proper aspect ratio in a high resolution, geez.

Here's a copy of the game (you don't need to actually install, just drag and drop the game folder).
https://archive.org/details/SEGA_PC_Daytona_USA_Deluxe_Win95_1999_Eng

Here's the 1.2 patch and the NoCD crack. I can't get the NoCD working though, might try to repatch it myself (or try and fail).

dgVooDoo has zero effect on it, nor does my GPU program. It's weird. SEGA's Virtual-On PC port is the same, so I suspect it's something about their ports.

Also installing the 1.2 (Direct3D) patch gives me a dead end popup without launching the game, so I skipped that. There's a rip on old-games.ru but I don't know if it has the D3D 1.2 patch applied. In any case I can't get either to run above 480 in a correct AR or any anti-aliasing.

It looks like you got farther than I did in any case, it must be something with my setup. Are you able to force anti-aliasing on the cars? I think the game is running on DirectDraw unless you apply the Direct3D patch.

It is ridge racer but much stiffer. The point at where cars bite is much sooner and you need to let off thew power a little longer to start drifting as initial grip is higher. Oh and don't forget to set your tyres to maximum dorfito.
