Her almost nonexistent defensive options just means it's really hard for her to fend off attacks herself though. Also, it still kind of is the best version of the game. It has the Hunter characters, the game is 1:1 with the arcade (except for a very small percentage of the screen being removed due to arcade resolution but doesn't affect gameplay and you can choose between "saturn screen" and "arcade screen" if you want some more space out of screen, but it's really negligible.
On its pros also has that it outputs 240p natively.
The only other 240 option you have is PS2 (I think it's 240p, but not sure), but PS2 has input lag. Dreamcast' matching service as we know was also a disappointment.
IMO the best versions of Vsav are:
-Arcade original, of course
-Saturn (you get also the 3 Hunter chars, without "Vsav 2" "Hunter 2" shenanigans)
-Resurrection (too bad it doesn't output 240p)

Vampire Savior on Saturn used 4MB extra RAM and it's arcade perfect, but Vampire Hunter runs on the Saturn without any additional extra, and it does have some frames cut, but nothing as bad as the PS1 darkstalkers game.
Same thing happened with the Street Fighter Alpha games on both systems.

Lets talk about the Saturns EX Options. Under AV Output you get the choice of either S-Video or RGB. With S-Video being the default setting. I usually play via RGB Scart cable. As far as the character name changes, it's because the devs had Alex Jimenez of Capcom USA come up with all the character names, because they wanted names with international appeal. But then they felt that a handful of the names he came up with would sound weird to Japanese players, so they changed a few for Japan. As far as the title changes, who the hell knows. Jimenez was also the one who decided at the last minute to make Morrigan into a succubus. For most of development she was considered a female vampire.

I recall that if you set it to S-Video/Composite it will use a different rendering technique to accomplish transparencies. If you set it to RGB it's supposed to use an alternating flicker pattern like the arcade, if you use composite/S-Video it's supposed to use dithering every frame.
