I tried this with my little cousin who is 12 and watches let's play videos on youtube, plays among us, minecraft and all that shit on his parents laptop with his friends since he doesn't have a game console.

I gave him a Game Boy Pocket with Pokemon Yellow. He liked it, got half way. But then said it broke when the batteries died out.

Every generation thinks like this about the future generation's tastes. The fact is, childhood is about learning to socialize, not learning to have good taste. It's not that your taste is bad, it's that if you want to force your taste on your children, you're missing the point. If your children are socially healthy, there will be things that they like simply because their friends like them, and in most cases, you shouldn't do anything about it. It's much better that they're like that than they become the kind of person who thinks having hot opinions about video games is a substitute for a personality.
