It's a series of t-rpgs revolving around a crew of girls with special powers and sentai type armors. The story is just another "save the world from an alien invasion" but it's intentionnaly cheesy as hell, and there is a lot of h-scenes involving not only your crew but also some enemy commanders.
They're decent t-rpgs, the first one is easy and the second one mostly easy but with a few difficulty spikes. The third is a vn/trpg hybrid, sort of sakura wars-like, where you can only get laid if you fill some requirements.
The art is absolutely gorgeous, the girls are cute, and the enemy designs are cool. Japanese understanding isn't required, except maybe for the vn part of the third game.

I played the first Sakura Wars thanks to the fan translation, and it was indeed a joke from a tactical standpoint. Lakers has various avaliable techniques and mp management, level up mechanics, customizable and destructible equipment in the second game, zone attacks... Well, stuff that actually matters in a trpg. Sakura wars has cool animations, teleporting and terrain management, but that's about it. You can not even level up, specials charge real fast, everyone can heal, you have no equipement management at all... Way too easy if you're a dedicated trpg player. But the vn part is better because of the cool anime clips and the (sort of) branching.

I liked Xenon, although I'm a big fan of Kanno's other work. I'd say it's weaker than Desire, Eve: Burst Error and YU-NO, but if you liked those then you'll probably enjoy it. Has a lot less interactivity compared to other Kanno stuff, only a few choices throughout the whole thing. It's split up into 4 routes and each are only a few hours, so you can see if you like the first route without sinking too much time into it.
