I really do want to love GX and its absurd level of content but I just don't like the direction the series took with it becoming another generic sci-fi futuristic game with techno music.

The obvious Judge Dredd ripoff 90s graphic novel stylings and shredding as fuck metal music of X are just too good and if they do ever make a new game I would hope we get GX's gameplay and content with X's aesthetic.

For me it's X. GX is great but I don't like the game's drifting mechanics as much as X.

How do I beat Master on X? I beat Expert a few years ago and it felt damn good, but Master is daunting. Do I use the same tactic I used for Expert (get lucky with takedowns)? I'm not particularly good at them, but I can definitely practice.

Man just practice and get better at it, you don't have to watch any YouTube videos. I finished every challenge in every mode of these games without watching any YouTube videos. And yeah wrecking other cars helps a lot. It shouldn't require a lot of luck; just pick the dude who's threatening you the most and wreck that car. I mean it's not like you can't identify which car is which while you're on the track.

X's music grates, GX's is full of instant classics of practically every type and character themes. GX blows X completely out of the water at both controls and music to an indescribable degree. You sir are out of your goddamn mind or just a regular ass hipster.

I'm not a fan of the franchise but have been playing some GP Legend on a Old 3DS and man, this game have some nice tunes.

I'm a big fan of a lot of genres of music. F-Zero X did metal amazingly well with iconic and super memorable tracks that gave the game a unique identity.
GX did electronic music exceedingly poorly and every racing song outside the casino is boring and forgettable, the game has much less sonic identity. Some of the character themes are really awesome though, Dr Stewart and Mr EAD stand out for me in particular. The idea of every character having their own theme is awesome as well.

I'm sure there are at least 10 more futuristic games with the exact same deal going on. I'm not saying these games have bad soundtracks, I'm saying F-Zero X is unique and stands out and has identity without relying on the ultimate cliche for the genre. GX is obviously a step towards being much more generic and just doing what everyone expects a futuristic racing game to do. Hajime Wakai and Taro Bando are legends.
