In a cabinet to the left of my desk sits a PS2 with all my PS1 and PS2 games but I cant be bothered to play a console in 2020. I mainly play PC games at my desk and emulate certain older games on my laptop in bed with a ds4 controller.
I have RE2 and RE3 for PS1, but now that the ML upscaled custom Dolphin emulator versions exists, I am never playing them on original hardware ever again.

And thanks for complimenting the PC setup. I put maybe just a bit too much effort into it (particularly on the software side) but I think it paid off ultimately.

The tower used to be my grandparent's, has a crappy entry-level Celeron CPU 633mhz and was running Windows XP previously but I felt like Win98 was much more suitable given the hardware so that's what I put on it. RAM is maxed-out at 512mb and the video card is a GeForce 2 which I'm sure is bottlenecked by the Celeron but eventually when I replace that with a nice Pentium III that'll be a non-issue. Has an old 10GB IDE HDD which I'm amazed still works but I've got a 16GB CompactFlash card and adapter ready to go if and when it fails, computer initially had a no-name CD drive on it but I replaced it with a spare Sony DVD drive that was in one of my uncle's old computers. Daewoo monitor, Altec Lansing speakers, and Microsoft optical mouse were all found at Goodwill, Zenith Alps SKCM keyboard used to be my grandpa's found it in his old workshop just a few months after he passed away- so not only is it an amazing keyboard but it also has some sentimental value for me.

Probably be wise for me to get a new PSU for it eventually too but I wouldn't know where to look specifically.

Composite on PVMs can look good, but the Genesis has notoriously shit composite. It's something worth upgrading to either RGB or s-video, especially if you're gonna play it on a fancy PVM.

>Also nice. Multiple CRT's next to each other always seemed like a weird idea to me but I guess they take too much space to be put in a closet or something.
More a thing for multiplayer. CRTs get very heavy very fast, and I didn't feel like having to manage a 30+" tube that weighed more than 2 people could casually lift on their own.

>>7214783
>What are the CRT enclosures for?
That's just the chassis it comes with. It's actually very handy since it makes being able to grip onto the CRTs to move them around much easier than most comparably-sized sets.

>>7215720
Isn't all that weight on your LD player bad for it? Otherwise I like it aside from the fact that your AES is the only vidya you have accessible for it.

>>7216969
>but the Genesis has notoriously shit composite
I'd like to counter that the Sega PACs for the Laseractive actually have very nice Composite, but that's a bit of a moneybags solution when you could just suck up the rainbow banding for the subset of Genesis games that look better in Composite versus RGB to begin with.

I finally found a curved CRT with component earlier this year. The games look really amazing on it. The NES top loader and sega genesis are the original consoles I had as a kid. I also have my original collections of games for those two systems. Unfortunately I sold my n64 and playstation stuff so I had to buy that stuff again. Since I've started playing old games again the sega genesis and SNES are my favorites. The sega CD is great as well. Games on those consoles aged remarkably well.

I do a similar thing with my setup where if I feel like playing a bunch of games from a certain era I'll make my room look time appropriate thanks to all the retro shit I've hoarded over the years that I keep in the basement. Like if I want late 90s, ill pull out the dark grey crt with my ps1 and n64 hooked up and keep it like that until I beat the majority of games I planned on tackling for that time. For 2000s ill pull out the silver Philips tv with the ps2 and GameCube. Early 90s / late 80s ill set up the woodgrain tube that smells like cat shit with my NES and Genesis. I do the same with all my appliances in the room too like radios/alarm clocks and my PC as well. Its the closest I can get to time travel.
