don't bother with any Gunbird ports, with the possible exception of the Saturn Gunbird in TATE. I don't know if that's compromised. I do know that neither Saturn or PS1 has a YOKO version without that ugly screen scroll you mention (and PS1 doesn't have TATE!).

Even the PS2 and the Switch versions are not completely accurate. Sadly it seems like MAME is still the best bet for the Gunbird fan.

Gunbird 2 can at least be enjoyed properly on the Dreamcast. I don't know if the ZeroDiv port is fucked up, but they haven't had the best track record... I think only Dragon Blaze has been said to be without major accuracy issues because the PS2 port was pretty good (and these releases use the PS2 code).

It's probably not bad outside of no stage select, and as I mentioned above it depends on if the PS2 port was itself good. I thought the Gunbird 1 port by ZeroDiv was 'good enough' to beat with a several of the characters.

I scanned one of the lithographic prints that came with the Ikaruga vinyl to see how it would turn out. The original print is a bit more red than the same illustration pulled from the game files, so I color corrected it to match that. I still need to adjust it some more, there's a bit of purple where there should be blue. I've been meaning to scan Yasushi Suzuki's artbook that contains all his Ikaruga illustrations too but these will do for now.

The PS1/Saturn versions have lightgun crosshairs shooting at you vs the SNES version, which are a royal pain in the ass.

I say if you know what you are doing you can get buy well enough until the boss rush, in which case it is quite difficult (or it was for me). Have a favorite character? I liked using the fairies.
