Sonic's games were terrible. They had bad game design. Whether its Sonic Adventure 2 and the fact that most of the time you aren't even playing as Sonic or the Original Sonic 1 and the fact that it barely relies on speed, despite the advertising

Alex Kidd was a much more polished series and it was really popular, so it was a stupid move by Sega to create Sonic. Sonic never should have existed

That cover is unfortunately better than the actual game. The Japanese one was one of the first games that my father imported for the (also imported) MD. Unfortunately he stopped playing games before the fifth generation started in Europe.

That cover art and the game itself was enough reason why there aren't any new Alex Kidd games. Sega figured they needed to go a different direction. Thank God, because Sonic is iconic and saved the Sega Genesis.

Alex the Kid 3D should've been a Saturn launch title, since Sonic is too fast to work in 32-bits (he would have to wait to be put on a 128-bit system instead to actually work). Would have probably saved the system from being the absolute disaster that it ended up as.

It's not that hard to check, just load the rom and try it yourself. It's ass. Ugly aesthetics, shit controls, shit rhytm and level design. It's a shit ugly game.
