I've almost got the throwing potions working, although you'll probably want to re-think the radius of the Oil Potion. 4.6 yards is insanely big, even by MXL standards this would be excessive, especially when you consider barbarians can run around throwing 6+ per second. The ctc affixes are also in, the only things I have left to do are the advanced skill mechanics, which will take a while to figure out (Telekinesis, Thunderstorm, Molten Boulder, Static Field, etc).

It's kind of silly that as a caster, Stealth is better than most things, and it takes so long to ever find an upgrade with the FCR piece.

That's it. Not a single normal tier unique has FCR on it. Heavenly Garb probably should, even if it were only 10 or something. Vipermagi is literally the only armor in the game with more FCR on it than Stealth, a runeword you can make in Act I of normal.
The weirdest thing to me is that crafted caster armor can't roll FCR, so it's essentially pointless to ever make it, since Stealth will always be better for you as a caster then crafted because of the FCR. It's such a baffling decision to have no viable end-game potential on caster armor, when it could been one of the coolest choices to chase after. Caster amulets have the potential to be so much better than even a Mara's, it's insane. But it's acceptable because the chance of getting that GG roll is so astronomical that it balances out.
Stealth still has the highest FCR increase in the game save only for vmagi. If you're looking to close a BP gap, especially in SP without ladder runewords enabled to make spirit, you're going to be looking at using Stealth through hell for the 25 FCR if you can't find a vmagi.
Crafted caster armor should have been given the chance to roll Apprentice and Magus for 10 and 20 FCR like circlets, as part of their random affix pool, and additionally have the chance to roll from 5-10 guaranteed FCR like caster amulets do, so you could potentially get up to 30 FCR on a crafted armor, and even with hitting that perfect FCR roll, vmagi would likely still always be better because of the other stats, but you could at least imagine getting some kind of perfect armor roll of 30 FCR + 2 sockets +life/mana +res. No +skills, but the chance for 2 sockets would give it a chance to be perhaps a best in slot with the addition of GG jewels, facets, or runes.

But there are so many elite weapons I'd love to see added as well. A unique mythical sword or legend sword could be super cool, they could even do more than one with that base where the "mythical sword" is a different legendary sword based on real-life legends. anything cool like that.

It would be neat if the Amazon had a set option that wasn't bow, either a set with a javelin or some insane monster spear and golden armor so you could look like a valkyrie. They could have also had all the introductory class items you find in act 1 of normal have a unique version for that early chance at something decent, without eclipsing a good non-unique find as well.
For instance, a unique eagle orb could give something like 1+ to a random sorc tree or 1-3 on one of the 3 starting skills, 10-20 fcr, +mana and whatever else, but it still might not be better than finding just a white orb with 3+ charged bolt. Just little things like that. No game-breaking must-finds, just something that if you did find it, it might be pretty helpful for a little bit. Even after you move out of starting skills, the fcr on a weapon could still be enough of an incentive to continue using it, even if that's all it's giving you at that point. I've certainly shopped specifically for 20 fcr wands on single player as a non-necro caster without any care of having +skills on them.
Though the chance of getting a 1+ lightning skills 3+ charged bolt 20 fcr orb from corpsefire or rakanishu could still always be that dream drop for a sorc starting out.
And what is a more quintessential D2 experience than starting up a new character and finding that amazing early act 1 drop for the class that you didn't pick?

an easy addition to crafting would be changing it so that if the magic item that goes into the recipe is ethereal, the resulting roll remains ethereal. You need hundreds of percent and a big mana pool for it to be noticeable, and both of those are generally considered a waste to put points in, due to the weak returns, but also because it is so much easier to get from gear like Insight and Bahamut's Rings, Frostburns etc.
Having a single point in Warmth pays of pretty well with +skills gear, but other than that mana on kill and, to an extent, damage to mana is really the way to go early.

It's still minor league compared to even partway synergized blizzard but both have their pros and cons. Blizzard has more damage, more aoe, more range and also more stopping power since it flinches enemies unlike orb which also translates to your merc having a lot more survivability. Orb does more reliable damage since blizzard will randomly miss all the time, and especially if the enemies are size 1 or stationary the random shards seem to have really hard time hitting them for some reason.

Overall blizzard is way more op than orb, but orb doesn't need to play by 1.10 clownworld rules so it's a lot more comfy for playing through the game solo as a dual element build.

This and leaf show how broken development for DII was, particularly after 1.10 with synergies.

Maxing out synergies early and very basic rune words lets a spec absolutely tear through normal and nightmare. You can load up on MF and have budget gear and still do Hell runs.

To a lesser extent other casters have the same bonus. Synergies allow you to max out a skill early, with damage that swamps mobs. Most also are AOE and magic hits 100% of the time.

Contrast this with melee. Monster life and armor was increased considerably in later patches to match the caster damage output, but weapon base damage and speed were never adjusted, nor were quality prefixes and suffixes on low and mid level gear. The result is that it is an absolute grind to level melee untwinkled. A handful of exceptional uniques are required to make running nightmare easy, or running countess over and over at least for Honor. Otherwise, rares and blues won't drop worthwhile mods for almost all of nightmare. You miss at least 1/20 hits but often much more. Solutions abound with set and unique items, cheap ones, but you won't have those floating around early in a ladder. It seems obvious they need to rework weapon damage and modifiers so that useful stuff comes up early. Let grandmaster's and cruel spawn around level 30-40 but only on normal and low exceptional gear. This would give you good blues and yellows while not making damage OP.

Right now only spec is viable early on. Only the necromancer competed as being viable on an even worse budget for some il86 areas.

D2 might be even more broken than D1 in melee vs magic. While the sorcerer eventually massively outclassed the rouge and warrior at the end game, it didn't at all during a regular playthrough if you weren't doing books and elixers. You started off with a major challenge in the first few levels before you got effective spells. Even then, damage fluctuated with book drops and what the Witch sells.

Meanwhile, the warrior had an actual role in tanking since the grid system meant everyone didn't just run in every direction most of the time. D2 style caster play gets a sorcerer dead very quick.

They kind of fucked shit up because the systems for ANY physical combat including melee, bows and throwing don't actually work in practice in 1.10. Not only is AR badly theorycrafted, but your ability to acquire weapon upgrades lags behind the level of challenge you need to clear.

1. Unless you grind a lot (which is much more effortous for a melee character than aoe casters) you'll be underleveled playing through the game, which means your hit chance will be disproportionately dicked by level difference
2. You need high tier base weapons to do damage, but the stat requirements are absurd when your max hp is very reliant on the amount of vitality you have
3. Affix pools are full of garbage like hopelessly outscaled elemental damage, and you need either good exceptional/elite uniques or a lucky combination of exceptional/elite weapon+good high tier damage affix(es)
3b. Basically every runeword that has sufficient increased weapon damage or off-weapon ED requires runes you won't find playing even 50 of these characters through the entire game, let alone one. The only exception is Insight which is both ladder only and polearms only.
4. Grinding up and farming items that will actually let you comfortably play through NM/Hell "as intended" takes like 100x more time+effort compared to running, telestaffing and cheesing past everything and applying cheap sources of crushing blow torture on mandatory bosses

Not entirely correct, the Sorcerer's hit recovery, block speed and defense are so shit he'll get rekt if you let anything get into melee. When I played through all three difficulties are a sorc a few years ago, on NM and Hell even one of the invisible guys would perma stunlock me if it touched me once. Also the projectile hit detection in D1 is absolute bullshit so you have a hard time hitting any enemies with fast erratic movement like the lightning demons.

Magic being super broken in Diablo 1 is actually kind of based, the main problem is that Warrior and Rogue aren't good enough at their own specialities. Warrior doesn't get tanky enough, Rogue doesn't do enough damage, lategame ranged enemies flee or phase away with a too high reaction time, and actually a large part of the spells in the game get left behind already towards the end of Normal so the magic in that area is actually too weak.

I find the worst drag to be levels 15-30. Melee characters struggle with meaningful damage output even twinkled since there aren't many great low level uniques to use. Sigon's will make you tanky, but damage is still meh.

Steeldriver let's a Barb, zealot, or melee Druid fun and able to progress fine through nightmare. But that's a specific unique you need. Bonesnap kind of works too.

Nothing else really gets you that sort of damage. Bloodletter is good but only to Act III NM or so. Honor requires a lot and then isn't that great because base damage is so shit.

Upper Steeldriver can take you into hell though.

Auradins fair a lot better thanks to synergy based damage. I had a holy freeze zealot using the crappy exceptional ignored target defense dagger and later the scepter with that mod and mostly meh gear. I could actually be useful into hell thanks to freezing things and could solo Act 5 nightmare, but all the damage came from synergies and someone threw me a Gaurdian Angel so I had quality resists.

I also got gifted a Hellslayer and even with an elite unique my damage was shit compared to AOE a necromancer or Sorc puts out with base skills.

Druids are a bit better because ribcracker is an excellent weapon with insane speed for a wolf.

Yeah, but a sorcerer could reduce their HP to 1 by letting those neon green zombies hit them over and over. Each hit takes a permanent hp. If a hot exceeds your HP, you don't stun, even with mana shield up.

The warrior not being tanky enough is a real problem, or it being hard to hit shit. Even with great gear and maxed vitality, venturing into hell difficulty with a warrior without being close to the level cap is brutal. Death knights will take of 1/3rd of your HP with each hit.

Around level 45 you can finally reliably hit things without a kings weapon and you can start one shitting guys with Civerbs though. You kind of need a gold amulet of precision or to be level 50 to have supper good to hit though.

They reminds me, warriors actually do out damage sorcerers even with the fireball double damage bug. Civerbs Cudgel applies the 300% damage to demons after all mods, so you can do I think 700-900 damage a hit, enough to kill hell/hell enemies in one shot almost every time. The problem is that hitting things is a fucking pain. Maxed out though you can go for chain mail that can spawn resists, which let's you substitute obsidian jewelry for stuff that gets you more mana. That will let you teleport from enemy to enemy and destroy shit. But that also requires an exact gear combo and grinding to the level cap.

Median 2008, Median XL and Median Ultimative are the obvious, normal choices, although I'm sure you already know about them. Eastern Sun is also very well received and has plenty of things to do, although it is a huge mess. The only removed enemy that comes to mind is Flamespike, who used to be right near the WP in the Inner Cloister. Can't think of any other total removals, but there were a couple of things that have been removed from enemies like Iron Maiden on Oblivion Knights and Thieving from the champion attribute pool. Don't know if this mod returns either of those, but if it's all about building your own experience, it would be neat if it did.

Yeah, you are correct. I have now added them to the nightmare/hell misc drops.

Also, I haven't changed poison cloud radius yet (Poison Explosion, poison potions) since there is no radius, each cloud is an actual missile that moves around in a single direction (it is a nova essentially). It would be better if you could describe the increased cloud radius in relative terms, like instead of "Cloud Radius: X yards" you could say "+Y% cloud radius/range".

Aldur's rhythm seems like it might a decent weapon for a WW barb. It makes sense in the context of the mod. Undead now have resistance to swords while animals have a resistance to maces so you need a load out for each.

To be honest, I don't really like that part. You forget to switch your weapons and then fights become a grindy slog. I played rouge or axe wielding barbarian to avoid it.

It does add to the complexity though because you have to decide which load out gets your better shield. If all the undead on a level are litches hurling fireballs, your mace gets the shield with + fire resist, while you throw the one with + to blocking on your swords load out because you're fighting demons for melee.

The classes are a lot more specialized, which I don't like either. The rouge-lite modes where you can't save or can only save and go to town once every four levels are cool though. I like that POD made these uniques good again by adding the ability to reroll and add sockets. A 6 socket Grandfather can actually be better than BOTD now.

Alright, it's a complete abomination but it almost works. The webm is showing the normally invisible minion with 100% ctc rate, although it obviously casts less often than that. The main issues are it refuses to cast when enemies are too close to it (so to a player that doesn't know there is an invisible skeleton, it seems as if it randomly stops triggering), the aiming mechanism is slightly inaccurate and it has all the issues of a normal pet like getting stuck on obstacles. It is the bastard child of:
>Blade Sentinel (produces an untargetable minion with a timer)
>Lightning Fury (for the initial targeting)
>Catapults (for specific targeting, so that the per-target-check roughly hits only one enemy per targeting attempt)
>Firewall (to disable hit sounds)
>Poison Creeper (one of the few minion AIs with a controllable leash range)
>Fist of the Heavens (so that the thunderbolts follow targets)
>Meteor (for the cltside graphics as the thunderbolts descend)
I still need to add in the vanillaish Thunderstorm behavior and the Thunderstorm overlay so you can know when it is active, but that's simple to do now that I can make skills cast other skills. Overall, I'm happy with how it turned out since it was a complete dumpsterfire to work with at first, but it is still so janky that I'm not even sure you'd want it, and a lot of that jankiness is required, as otherwise I have to rely on things like nextdelay (garbage since sorceress skills also use nextdelay) or massive multihitting of nearest targets and little or no hitting of distant targets.

I just started act 2 nightmare and I'm sitting on 76 attribute points. I should probably be using them. But the whole "enough str and dex to equip" throws me off because I have no idea what I'll be equipping. So I just stockpile stats. Yeah I just got access to the Learning recipe (hit act 3 nightmare last night) so looked up crafting stuff last night a bit. IIRC from reading the build guides I probably won't be targetting high str items anyway since nothing I have scales off str, and I'm really only using shields for Bear Stance, or the Collector shield. Everything will be in energy/vit (and mostly vit once Demiurge is high level enough to hit soft cap for stat bonus to vessels). But collector & a paladin mace unique are like 400-500 dex, so I'll have to pump that eventually.

I have no problem with looking stuff up, its just that I'm new and the guides on the MXL site are just lists of recipes and items, not like... concepts. Reading a player made build guide that says "str and dex: enough to equip items" doesnt really help when you have no idea what items you are going to equip other than the 5 or so listed in the guide, which are generally hell or beyond.

Amazon's poison skills don't scale well into later levels and the class is kind of weak early on in general. Building for lightning is the best for amazon probably. When you get to level 18 start putting points into Charged Strike, and when you reach level 34/35 or so respec fully into Lightning Fury and Charged Strike.

you're overstating the difficulty in finding a decent weapon by just a tad. yes, it can be a slog, I know it. But you don't have to always be farming act bosses if it's too hard. Get a decent bit of MF and farm NM Eldritch and Shenk, or even Hell Bishibosh will do if you get him in a good spot right next to the Cold Plains WP. You can find plenty of decent weapons like Bonesnap and pretty much any exceptional unique polearm which should set you right.
Your battle orders should also be at a high enough level where you and you merc can take NM Andy and Meph apart with ease to farm for most of these. a Strength runeword in literally any usable weapon base on your merc will be enough to wreck them. shop for a teleport staff and roll your maps until you get a quick route to one or both of them. You might even get lucky and find something godly like an eth Hone Sundan that you can shove 3 shael runes into. The CB from your blood gloves should be enough to be taking bosses down in concert with your merc. This of course on top of Battle Cry taking the enemies' defense apart so the CBs can land all over the place.
You are using Battle Cry on your enemies after shopping for two +warcries weapons, right?
WW barbs ARE shit and miserable at times to play through on SP, but they definitely are playable.
