Unlike some contemporary handhelds, it didn't get Yokoi assassinated.

Great hardware and some fun arcade-y games but like the Dreamcast it died way too early.

I have a Neo Geo Pocket Color, and while I love the system itself, I don't really like any of the games. The screen is too small to lend itself well to fighting games, which everyone claims are the hallmark of the system, for some reason. It has a few puzzle games, which all lose their novelty pretty quickly when you realize that you can play much better versions of the games elsewhere.

I heard that there were a bunch of RPGs that were planned for the Neo Geo Pocket that never made it past early production.

Just like the mvs, big tournament golf is the best game on the system. tells you a lot.

It had the post-3 Sonic game, some decent ports, and a fun SNK vs Capcom card game. Unfortunately, it died before it could reach its potential.

No love for Metal slug 1st (and 2nd) mission?
It's a brilliant little collectathon for the obsessive compulsive.

Back then almost every game company, save for Atari and SEGA, followed nintendo's design choices for whatever reason. They just thought by conforming to the popular design their products could sell better I guess.

The game.com had an awful library, come on. Even the playable stuff wasn’t enjoyable.

The Wonderswan was so much better and should have been the gateway into the next generation of handheld gaming instead of the GBA

The kid that bullied me in elementary school had one, and I couldn't decide whether to be jealous or laugh at him not having a Game Boy.

I was one of three kids in the 5th grade with an NGPC. I still liked my GB, but once I owned that, I felt distinguished and honored; wasn't a game I didn't like. Owning that handheld forged my love for SNK franchises and that lengthy roster of distinct characters.

All my plebs classmates knocked it for a host of inane reasons, but I knew better. Unfortunately, even the web1.0 era crawled few fansites. Pocket Gamer even shat on the NGPC and idiotically ranked the Pokemon Trading Card Gameboy port higher than "Card Fighter's Clash". Fucking shills.

Doesn't matter. Years later, I still love my NGPC.

My library:
>Bust-a-Move Pocket
>Dark Arms
>King of Fighters R-2
>Metal Slug: 2nd Mission
>Samurai Shodown! 2
>SNK vs. Capcom: Match of the Millennium
>SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash (SNK version)
>Sonic the Hedgehog

>Even Game.com had better games.
That is a grossly unfair comparison, although NGPC wouldn't appeal to you if you're not into fightans.

NGP isn't the NGPC. I'm not sure how forward compatible it was with the NGPC though.

That console turned me into a homosexual after finding out Miss X was Iori in disguise. I genuinely didn't know. And now I'm gay. Well, it was either that, or it's down to all those times my dad raped me. Hmm...
