I mean honestly, in VHD: the main villain is a vampire in his castle but you get to fight all kind of other monsters too. One of the first thing he encounters when entering the castle is a jaguar.

Then, our hero falls down a trap floor, ends up in a lower level of the castle and has to fight his way up. He encounters Medusa.
The list goes on.

CV1 is pretty much VHD: The Game. Then CV2 took that Dracula image >>7127058

Then, SotN took a bunch of other things as well (Alucard's style, the horse ride into the castle followed by a jump into the castle through the half closed bridge). At THAT point the devs finally realized they took it too far had to admit "Yes, we're inspired by VHD" in interviews; but the inspiration in the previous titles is pretty damn obvious also.

Also the VHD anime came out in 1984, not long before dev of CV1 began, and was a pretty huge deal then in Japan.
