Let me rephrase that. DDP is good for a casual coin now but I'm more of a survival player. Although I have a ton of experience and do offer coaching. And yes, before you ask, players with lower scores can coach players with higher scores. It's been done before. Cactu himself has coached the current WR holder for Touhou 6, while he has one of the top scores but can't execute as well. My experience in other shmups WILL translate and benefit you. I have a clip of "Humans must Answer". The problem is, it's not a retro game.
In destroy all humans the screen keeps scrolling but you have to open doors sometimes. So you have to hit the switches. Sometimes the switches are out of range, so you have to think how to reach them. 1/4th into the game you get bullets that can be shot to spread. So you have to shoot that kind of bullet and then shoot it in the right moment to hit the door trigger which otherwise would be not hitable. It's very difficult because it's rare in the genre to have to think and time shots this well.Takes a while to get used to. Until then this will twist your brain. It's really weird.

There is a healthy population of secondaries... which is weird, because the in-game art is bad. The trick is that the character designs are genuinely just good. They're unique and creative, and almost none of them blend into each other (and the one or two that do are a meme within the fanbase).
It's popular because of one part memetic value, one part great soundtracks, one part soul, one part lore, and one part good gameplay. It's a bit on the slow and easy side, but the patterns are second to none in visual appeal and symbolism, which is part of why the latest was so divisive. The patterns were ridiculously simple up to and including the final boss.
His art is potato-tier in game but much more appealing on paper. Pic related. So not traditional "programmer art".
